Default Hello from North Texas

Hello Xb fans,

DW drives our 2008 Xb. We got it in 2010 with 17k miles. We find it an incredibly useful touring car. We have made at least five 2000+ mile trips in the last 2 years, and these trips are becoming more frequent because we can haul so much gear, and the trip is so hassle free. The car now has over 100k miles.

Much of the time, the back seats are laid down to make a platform for our dogs. We have a nice cover that hangs off the 'head rests' and covers the entire rear platform. This represents the only 'mod' we have.

The car works pretty well, but if I could improve anything, it would be the front seats. They don't adjust much and we spent a lot of time in them. The car could be quieter, too. Finally, we could use something to hang a smartphone serving as an interactive GPS map.

The main thing is simply dependability, though. We spend a lot of time exploring the high plains where there isn't much help if something breaks.

As an aside, I'm currently looking to replace my Jetta (325k miles). I need something getting 35 mpg or more, so a stick-shift 1st gen Xb is high on my list of options.

Welcome to the forum, the xB is definitely a reliable car that was a big part of why I picked mine....

Welcome!
I love both the first and second gen xBs. Each has pros and cons. That said, the xB2's pros are performance and the dash (I like it better). As those are the elements I interact with, it decides my favorite of the 2.
