Hello everyone I'm new to the group, I picked up an 08 xb manual transmission with 150k miles in SoCal, it was a one owner vehicle and it was very well maintained. I know these things will run for days if cared for properly. This one certainly was well cared for, so no complaints. I love my little xbox, as my sister in law referred to it. Coming from two previous tCs I was very interested in these based on familiarity with the brand and reliability.

I'm not going to do anything major, other than drop some 2011 oem tC wheels which I picked up for $400, but I'm torn with tire size options for the wheels themselves. So I could use some input to help sway my decision one way or another.

If anyone has recommendations on caring for a high mileage xbox such as mine outside of the usual stuff, let me know...things to look for, anticipate etc...

Open to discussion for all, and thanks for your time.

The mod's I've done are more for improvements to existing features. I installed LED's, a variable wiper switch, additional back up lights, HID's headlights. The floor mats were replaced with all weather ones and mud guards. Don't forget to check the radio eq setting for xB instead of Tc. The rest of the items are more for appearance than anything else.

Awesome Dale, hey I've read mixed things from the all weather mats, I've looked at the Weathertech ones "digital fit" and was wondering how you felt about them, if those are the ones you used in fact, or are you using the factory option ones?

Cheers!

Welcome to nsxb.
Lots of easy n cheap things to do. Fwiw, xb is much more comfortable to drive than the tcs. I bought my daughter a tcrs3 that she loves. But love my box better.

lots to dig through on here...

My grand daughter has a Tc and because of my age,(72), I most likely would have to crawl in and out of it. My xB is just the right height for me. No excessive bending over.

I couldn't agree with you more on the ease of getting in and out of the vehicle, Very helpful for me now that I seem to get hurt more often than I am healthy. I'm a soccer coach and I carry a ton of gear with me sometimes, plus my little one and the car seat, so the maneuvering in the TC just got old real quick. I still miss that little car though. Here's a few pics that I took right before selling it.

Thanks for the love! I really am so happy with my xB, it didn't take long really to enjoy the differences and every day I find something else to like about it. I love all the little compartments placed throughout the car. I find different uses for them daily! Love love love my "xbox" lol.

Glad everything is working out for you. If you like compartments, you might look into the cubby nich nets that go in the rear quarter panels. On the subject of the floor mats,I had the weather tech digifit mats and although they are great for really nasty weather, they don't fit as I would like especially the rear "over the hump" one piece. I instead got the regular rubber mats.
If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask, the members are eager to help.

I bought the scion all weather mats, and rear cargo mat the fronts and cargo are great, but the rears are a waste. I then bought the weather tech rear seat one piece liner and it gives great coverage. Dale I also need to swap the wiper switch is there a particular year Prius we need to use? Tia.

OK. I did the research in the forum, and found the info. The first p/n is 84652-48180 for a Prius 2008 with symbols on the switch. The second is for the switch with lettering on it and is p/n 84562-48060 for a Prius 2005-2007. If you go to the site for the install, there is more info on the switches that will fit. When I got mine, I found it on E bay for ~ $40. Hope this helps.

Wow thanks for the info Dale! Seems trivial, but when that annoying slow rain comes I'm sure the multi speed intermittent part will keep me more sane. Lol.

That's awesome. Nothing like a good jump. I left my last car pretty much set for the next guy. On this one I've got a few things here and there on this one but so many possibilities exist. I'm just glad it was well taken care of.

Congrats.

Took this today as the sun was hitting just right. I'm a picture junkie. Minor edit...

original:

Gonna do a small tinted strip across the top of the windshield. Looking for the wind visors that will fit flush as well, I saw the other threads, and was curios where people are buying from currently if at all.

Also picked up the Razo GT spec weighted shift knob with red leather accent. I removed the holding clip from the stock shifter and trimmed the shift boot some then tried my hand at stitching a pattern in to it. Wanted a flush look with the shifter. Came out ok. I'll post pics later.

eBay! Search for Scion xB 08 sun strip. Here's a installation how-to:
https://sites.google.com/site/brickpigs2011xb/home/5-windshield-sunstrip
After living with this for a couple of years now, if I had to do it over again I would not ask them to make it 5" tall, but just leave it at the default 6" tall.

I used this same company (Filmvantage) for the sunstrip on my 2005 Camry LE V6 and it came out great also. On the Camry, the hole in the sun strip for the rear view mirror was precut.

It is funny how a little cropping and nonochromatic effect can create a really nice pic.
