Replace O2 Sensor Assistance

Hi Folks, I found some awesome downloads in this thread: http://www.newscionxb.com/135-do-yourself/4701-open-directory-scion-xb-shop-manual-pdfs.html

BUT... They do not seem to include what I really need at the moment so hopefully someone can be of assistance.

I have a 2008 Scion Xb that is currently showing check engine codes of P0136 and P0137 so here are my questions:

1) Both codes specifically refer to the O2 Sensor location Bank 1 Sensor 2 - I have tried to figure out exactly where that is and I am pretty sure it is the one on the exhaust pipe under the car - is that correct? (See screenshot below)

2) I see in the documents from the thread above there is a view of the exhaust that shows where the heated oxygen sensor is located but then in the exhaust removal and install documents there is just a line that says to remove/install the sensor with no instructions. Does anyone have a straightforward set of instructions with visual aids or should it be easy enough to figure out once the car is jacked up? I ask this mainly because I saw something somewhere (I can't remember where now) about the wires going up through the floor and you have to pull back the carpet etc... I am hoping that was some other make/model vehicle I was looking at and for the 2008 Scion Xb it is all exterior... anyone know the detail here?

See the screenshot of the O2 Sensor. My concern is where does the other end plug into... and... is this indeed the Bank 1 Sensor 2 location?

3) This one is more a question about the codes themselves - is the P0136 and P0137 specifically for the Bank 1 Sensor 2 sensor or is it possible for those codes to trigger for the Bank 1 Sensor 1 sensor? (or will that have diff codes?)

Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Linda

i am looking for the same information if anyone has it. my xb is showing code P0136 bank 1 sensor 2 and from what I can find it seems that is the rear, downstream sensor which should be after the cat but that is not what your screenshot shows. confused...

does anyone out here know exactly where the bank 1 sensor 2 is located and any recommendations on where to buy the part so i make sure i get the right one?

I am happy to report all is fine and dandy now. We got the sensor installed yesterday with no issues ($50.00 for the part with free labor sure beats the $150 for the part with $100 labor quoted from the garage ).

From eBay it was the DENSO 234-4168 Oxygen Sensor. Once the car was jacked up it was clear to see there are only two sensors and only the one on the pipes underneath - as mentioned it is on the s-pipe and is on the passenger side.

Our main point of confusion was that we thought there were two underneath. Glad to say there is just the one "downstream" sensor on the s-pipe and the other sensor is by the exhaust manifold.

So after replacing the one on the s-pipe my engine codes P0136 and P0137 (Oxygen Sensor - Bank 1 Sensor 2) are now gone.
