But 35 watt is supposed to be "3 times brighter" than regular halogens already according to the marketing.
I'm curious about HIDs too. With all of the people on here that have them, how has it turned out? A lot of people have to replace them or ballasts? How is lighting while you're driving? Is there lots of back-sparkle in the rain or some weather? Is it tricky to make sure they aren't glaring too high? Does your car fail inspection because of this since they're not stock (with auto-levelers). I've been reading a lot and it seems like the reputable sources say they're not worth it, and not legal. What do you think? I guess they aren't street legal otherwise some major headlight company that already makes them for OEMs would be selling them, right? Interesting article against HID conversions- Daniel Stern Lighting Consultancy and Supply

I've had mine for about 9 months and never had a problem. Because our B's have "projector" type of lenses,HID's work well. The main beam does not overpower drivers coming toward us. Older cars that have regular headlights don't give a good effect, the beam goes allover the place.

i bought 35w for headlights and 55w for fog lights from DDM Tuning half year ago, still works well. Then i bought another 7 HIDs from them for my friends and they are happy also. 30-50$ shipped, once in awhile they do sales on HIDS, almost 10$ off. No complaints so far and im happy with it.

I guess I would go with the Meng from TRD Sparks just for comfort. They were also featured on that Scion Owners site (paid?), where they never actually addressed the question of legality. HID Headlights: Questions Answered | Scionowners.com Turn Up Your Lights> HID Kits | Scionowners.com

I've noticed on the road that more and more cars have HID's, whether from the factory or added later. That being said, the chance of being pulled over just for these lights is getting
slimmer. Also I have the Meng lights and have had no problems. I got the relay harness to make sure there is no overloading on the OEM circuits. I located the ballasts on the flat areas near the hood hinges with double stick tape. It keeps them away from heat and water.

Did the relay harness come with them? Where did you purchase? Thanks!

When you go to the page for ordering the HID's, there is an area to order the relay harness.
After looking at that harness with all the connectors, wire, and relay, it's a deal for the price. Plus it all hooks up really easily.

Ok thanks. At TRDSparks, there are two Meng HIDs available,
p/n MENG-H01 Heavy Duty HID Conversion Kit p/n MENG-H02 Slim Ballast HID Conversion Kit Heavy duty is cheaper, both are on sale. The descriptions are the exact same for both. What is best?

I'm pretty sure the only difference is that the slim ballasts are smaller. Functionally, there should be no difference.
