Default Oh Sheet Handles

I pulled my headliner and been recovering and reinstalling it for the past couple of days. I got to the point to put the Oh Sheet handles back in, and one side clips and the other doesn't. It just so happens all 4 of them are like this. Any tips or suggestions to get them back in correctly?

Like Chris said. The metal clip has to be completely spread open and the handle flat against the mounting tab to be able to get the cover back on. I've found a BIG flat head screwdriver useful for spreading the clip all the way open.
