I checked the UPS tracking site and my shifter knob is now in the area, and will be delivered tomorrow. Hopefully, I'll have it installed on Saturday.

The UPS driver got to my door ~ 2:30 this afternoon. I opened the package, and installed the knob. The only thing that I am dissapointed with is the retaining washer on the boot now shows. I am thinking of fabricating some sort of cover over the boot just under the new knob (maybe a modified flat washer) but that's me. All-in- all, I like the TRD knob and it feels right.

My solution was just to slip the boot top up over the white plastic disk -- problem solved !

Yeah, I didn't like seeing the white retaining washer either. I also replaced my shift boot and the hole was a little larger than the hole in the OEM boot. I made a black washer out of a Garbage Disposal Drain Stopper that fit perfect.

No white showing!

I went with the Carbon Fiber TRD Shift Knob.

Thanks Trevor. I did just that this morning, and it looks fine. It took 2 small screw drivers and a little chasing around the shift lever to get the edge over the washer lip,but I finnally got it done in about 3 mins.

Where did you find that cover to match the knob? btw, would you consider making a DYI?

I bought the shifter boot and matching emergency boot from redlinegoods.com. They custom make them anyway you want. Great product!

I should of taken pictures of the process while doing the install for DIY, but I didn't. Redlinegoods.com has good install instructions on their site for the covers.

The only thing I did have to come up with is a way to get rid of that white donut holding up the shifter boot. I had my shifter shortened 1 inch, so the donut didn't look or fit right anyway. I used a new garbage disposal cover, cut down and drilled. I might be able to get a picture of that if you are interested.

Update: The new shifter knob turns without much resistance when shifting.A solution I made was to add masking tape to the shift stalk threads and re-installing the knob. So far, the knob hasn't turned.
