I'm looking at new rims for my 2011 XB to replace my steel wheels


Tires 235/40/18 wheel 18x8.5 +21 offset on stock suspension

Will they fit ??

I always use the wheel/tire comparer at TirezNow.com - Your Source For Great Tire Deals and Information to answer questions like this. According to their site, the tire size you chose is taller than stock and will yield a 2% speedometer error. Also the tire/wheel package will stick out 39mm (1.5") farther than stock.

A slightly better fit is 215/40-18 (0.8% error, 34mm / 1.3"). Or you haven't bought the wheels yet you can play with wheel offsets and/or widths, to get your desired fit.

I'm running 16" alloy wheels 7" wide with 40mm offset with the stock tires. I kept the 16" wheels for ride quality and because 16" tires are less expensive than 17" or 18". When the stock tires wear out I plan to run 225/50-16 tires.

Hopefully those folks who are running 18" wheels will chime in with their experiences.

I can never remember my wheels size, but I have 18x7.5 +40 and I don't poke. Not sure about speedo errors though. With +21 you shouldnt poke either, but you'll be close to flush. On stock suspension it shouldnt be a problem.

I’m just worried about the +21 offset

I decided against the +21 rims
Going the other way now I found rims from a GS450h

Im bout to run the same numbers on my new shoes..im glad you mention these numbers as i have seen here another xb while flat out slammed and still does not rubbed. this is an excellent choice if you don't mind the look of those tires...although mine would just be more beefy because of my steep driveway..but overall excellent numbers to start with.

im running a 19x9 in the summer with zero problems on stock suspension, 225/35 series tires. i know its not an 18 inch wheel, but maybe that could answer some of your clearance questions with it being an even bigger wheel than what youre asking about.

Well that's what I'll be running soon, 215/45 on a 9.5, but the stretch will effect the diameter.
