From the exterior, most of the changes are in the front facia. In the back the newer models have backuplights integrated into both tails with reflectors in the bumper. The older models have the single backup light in the bumper.
Several people have commented that the newer seats are more supportive and like the arm rest and center console height better.
Didn't you swap your older style interior for the newer one?

The engine/driveline, main body panels, door panels, and roof for 2008 thru 2012 xB are the same.
The front and rear end treatments for the 2008-2010 xb are the same ("dual slot" upper/lower front grills, red brake/turn lights, integrated rear reflectors, single reverse light).
The front and rear end treatments for the 2011-2012 xb are the same (dissimilar sized upper/lower front grills, red brake/amber turn lights, dual reverse lights, dual rear relectors mounted low in the bumper).
Other changes starting in 2011 (besides front and rear ends):
- revised front seat contours
- revised seat fabrics
- adjustable fore/aft center armrest
- tilt/telescopic steering column
- revised instruments and instrument trim (replaced Coolant Temp gauge with a clock and outside temp, added Coolant Temp idiot lights)
- base Pioneer head unit has preamp outputs (not sure if this was for 2011 or started earlier)

Forgot to mention in the above, that the 2008-2010 have a single front lamp on each side for running and turns, while the 2011-2012 (and probably the 2013 also) have a separate white running light, and a separate amber turn light. These are both inboard of the headlight.
The 2013 has other trim changes, covered in another thread. I've not seen a 2013 on the road yet...

the 2011 and 2012 have USB input and mp3 audio capabilities in the pioneer base unit along with Hands Free Bluetooth audio (Also plays audio from your bluetooth enabled smart phones too).
The overhead lights (over the front seat area,. usually referred to as map lights) have a small slotted opening for the microphone for the bluetooth hands free system, if it is completely factory.

I've also noticed the gauge cluster is a different color, the area outside the gauge itself is black instead of silver. The back hatch is trimmed up a bit instead of being same surface height all the way across at the top edge.
The 2012 is significantly quieter inside when driving compared to the 2008. Even when closing the doors you notice a different sound. I think they stuffed something inside the door panels to quieten them. The 2012 isn't nearly as 'quick' as the 2008, maybe the mileage on the engine???

the "quickness" of the 2008 may only be that it is used to how you drive and therefore has learned to drive the way you drive it. adjusting itself to perhaps your little bit heavier foot from a stopped position. giving your 2008 an "advantage" in "quickness" over the 2012 that does not know how you drive.

The 2012 has Hands Free Bluetooth audio, my 2011 does not have it. Scion changed the head unit between 2011 and 2012.
