Ok, here is the deal. I recently purchased a 2009
Xb with only 20k miles on it. I was told
Also that it was originally owned by a middle aged woman. Not that I'm super super young myself but I'd assume that she didn't concern herself with the sound quality of my car. Anywho, in my opinion, the sound quality is crappy. The max volume is not loud enough in my opinion and sometimes sounds like some speakers have alot of static when it does get up that loud. When it's low or midway the majority Of the time it has way too much bass to it for me to even begin to comprehend talk radio. I am knowledgable when it comes to electronics and I do realize that I can tweak the bass, treble, and all that. I wanted to know if anyone else is not at all pleased with the stock sound quality and also my main problem that I want to discuss is....am I the only one thats aux-in plug in has bad sound quality? I mean, everything sounds clear, but the regular FM stations have better volume and EQ to them than my aux in. I am using my IPhone 4 for my podcasts, iPod, and for my XM radio. So I know it's not just the mp3 quality, I have tried everything. I know also that my auxiliary cord is in top shape. On EVER STEREO I HAVE EVER USED MY SOUND QUALITY HAD BEEN MUCH BETTER USING THE AUX INPUTS OVER CDS RADIO OR WHATEVER. using car stereos, home stereos or whatever. So is this just an issue of mine or does everyone with a stock pioneer have the same problem? Is there a recommended fix other than buying a new cd player? I am still under warranty. Help me out! Sorry for the ranting!

I remember reading that there is a EQ setting that usually came eq'd to a different car as default. Once changed to the XB people found improvement in quality of the stock radio. I'm not sure if that will fix your problem, but search out how to change the default EQ setting.

Do this. Hold down the SSP button and turn it to "Car type xB" and then press the same button once to make sure its on "Feel", not Neutral or Hear

If that doesn't fix it, a new head unit works like magic in improving the sound, especially with aftermarket speakers.

I had the stock HU in my '09 and it worked okay. Only thing I did was put the same type of speakers that are in the front in the rear doors, too. Oh, then I added an amp...but, before all that, there wasn't enough bass for me either. It does help to change to "Feel" like Parker said and you can adjust the amount of bass and treble, balance and fade, but that's it. Try the adjustments and see if they work well enough for you. Oh, and just so you know, I am no longer middle-aged and I have to have some bump with my hip hop, rap, and metal.
