hey guys, im new here.. i've been searching for any information regarding doing a conversion but could not find anything...

I currently have a 2008 Scion xB and looking to redo the front end with the 2011 front end...

does anyone have any knowledge or information involving this?

I just bought new 2011 headlights and 2011 front bumper/grille...
will this be sufficient enough to complete a conversion?

thanks in advance!! :)

Welcome to the site. I'm far from an expert at conversions, but i would think you would need everything forward of the front doors. I'm sure someone will be along with other ideas. If this is possible pictures of the conversion would be great. Good Luck!!!

In looking into older mod's some manufactures not only change designs but change mntg. points. But I think in this case it's only looks. You need to talk to a body and fender guy that is versed in xB's. Maybe someone at the dealer's body shop. Don't forget that the sub bumper rail is possibly different too.

So the hood is different too?
All I'd heard is that the metal bits remained unchanged- w/ all the different parts being the light housings and other plastic bits being different. This is the first comment I've read or metal bits being different.

Tails replace

to do a 2011 front end you'd need the hood... i think the fenders are the same. the new front end is fugly... juss sayin.

jw can we use the 2011 tails on the 08's?!
I think the new tail lights might fit mechanicly, but most of the wiring has to be changed.Turns, brake, and b/u circuits have to either be added or separated. That might require going back to their origin, under the dash.It could be easier to get a new harness('11) to do this, but I'm not sure it will fit without changing connectors.

i hit a raccoon on the road and it damaged my front bumper.. so i figured might as well upgrade the look (i thought the 11 front end was ugly too but it grew on me) ..

the hood is actually the same as the 2008, i had the dealer look up the 2011 xb vin / hood and it is the same part number as the 2008

Thanks for that. It's been discussed before and that is what I thought. Good to know it is correct.

The headlamps on the 11s have a different lower shape. That I know for certain. A front conversion will require the lamps and nose.

Hey guys, I had to jump in on this conversation. The only difference is the bumper, headlights, and the wiring harness. A 2011 has five lights in the headlights(two running lights, Hi beam, low beam, and turn signal). Know this, the socket that holds your running light and twists into your housing is a different style, all the other lights fit perfect. If you can find just that, you can cut and splice it together. But you won't have a side running light for the 2011 headlight, again 2008-2010 only have four lights.
That is the largest part you have to tackle for the front end. The styrofoam piece behind the bumper you may want to get also, it is shaped different slightly, and i would guess it's to better support the bumper cover.
The rear end would definnetly be more of a challenge due to the fact the reverse light is not incorporated into the brake lights.

The only reason I know this is because right now I have my 2011 xB with a 2008 front end, and kept the 2011 rear. I really feel that it has a cleaner look, now i have to get the front painted. Thanks for the time, just had to share.
