The foam IS part of the bumper, along w/ the "overkilled metal support bar" (as one poster once said). They are the functional bumper. The foam help in low-speed bumps, while the metal one is for higher speed ones. The plastic is really a bumper cover, rather than the actual bumper.

Now, jntjohnson THAT sounds interesting! I'd love to see a picture.

Hey guys, I had to jump in on this conversation. The only difference is the bumper, headlights, and the wiring harness. A 2011 has five lights in the headlights(two running lights, Hi beam, low beam, and turn signal). Know this, the socket that holds your running light and twists into your housing is a different style, all the other lights fit perfect. If you can find just that, you can cut and splice it together. But you won't have a side running light for the 2011 headlight, again 2008-2010 only have four lights.
That is the largest part you have to tackle for the front end. The styrofoam piece behind the bumper you may want to get also, it is shaped different slightly, and i would guess it's to better support the bumper cover.
The rear end would definnetly be more of a challenge due to the fact the reverse light is not incorporated into the brake lights.

The only reason I know this is because right now I have my 2011 xB with a 2008 front end, and kept the 2011 rear. I really feel that it has a cleaner look, now i have to get the front painted. Thanks for the time, just had to share.

do you have a full pic of your avatar??

Not jacked . . .
Still on the front end conversion (relevant) . . .
The squid is an 11 w/ an early nose conversion (relevant). Now, one member of that team is on here commenting on what was done and info on how the 2 are similar/different).
I'd love to see the 2 front and 2.5 back in person . . .

I hadn't thought of the foam. Good point. That should be one of the parts swapped in such a conversion.

The Squid was at the detroit auto show, Then it may be going to spring break in Daytona in march, then I believe the New York auto show in April. I live in Georgia, stationed in Jacksonville florida. That is how I became VERY familiar with the 2011, I did own a 2006, now I own a 2011 also.

Image Gallery under General xB Forums if you will.
Lots and lots of pics - please share!

The car deserves a thread of its own.

The paint job was insane. The airbrushed rivets were done so well that from a distance they looked real.
