Hello everyone,
I'm actually a current owner of a 2007 Toyota Rav4, but I'm in the market for a new car and guess what I've settled on? Oh Scion, what a funny relationship we have had over the years. Story goes that back in 2007 I was graduating and my parents thought they would help me by buying me my very own "new" car. I asked relentlessly for a Scion TC but they refused to buy me a manual claiming I would soon end up in the obituary section of our local newspaper (they were probably right). I then asked for a manual version of the XB but they said they wouldn't buy me that giant metal box on wheels because it was "hideous" in their eyes.
Oh the pain I felt. I was happy that they were even THINKING about buying me a car, but dang it if I was going to have them spend that much money on something I didn't even want to drive. Low and behold they went with the choice that was a safe and reliable bet in their eyes. WELL, college has paid off and now its time to grow up, by buying myself an XB. My brother feels as though that may not be the definition of "growing up" but hey...you only live once and only end up smiling behind the wheel of YOUR car.
Anyways, I hope I will be able to join this community with open arms and like minds to help me on this journey of seemingly endless car payments and discussions on why this is a good purchase to my fiancée. lol Oh growing up, what a hoot. Good thing I'll be able to do it from behind the wheel of a XB.

I've read both of your posts. The 2nd generation xB is a very practical car with attitude to boot. I've hauled 5 adults, or a 5 foot desk, or 6 foot shelving boards in it (not all at the same time of course!). Best MPG so far was 28 mpg (but I have the automatic and like to move quickly). ;)

If I were you, I'd get a 2011 RS 8 with the factory sunroof and ground effects. Great Voodoo Blue color on the RS 8 too (my opinion). That will put a smile on your face!

Sounds like you are planning to buy a good choice. I'd recommend getting the 5 spd. new one because finding a used xb with manual tranny is hard to do. You mentioned about car payments, the price of a 'B is relatively small compared to other cars on the market (by about 2x to 3x). Let us know what you decide on.

I heard about the 2011 RS8 but I'm looking to get a brand new one to add to the driveway. 28 mpg that is stellar compared to my current vehicle. Payments, lower the better in my opinion. Yeah I checked my local scion dealership and all they have on hand are automatics which I am not in the market for. Do you guys know if I will have to pay more to order one? Or will the price remain the same and I will just have to wait a while for mine to arrive?

I suspect that the dealer can find one by going on the dealer network and inquiring. You yourself can almost do the same thing. It's called build your own xB. And finally, it most likely will take a while to order one, but I would ask anyhow.

Welcome to the site!

Excellent choice, you will love your xB. I've had 4 xB's and can't get enough! LOL

Keep us posted on what you get!

With Scion's Pure Pricing there is no haggling and the price is supposed to be the price no matter what, no matter where you buy. Having said that, a few people have reported a little price negotiation.

So yeah, have them check the dealer network for one you want or build your own on scion.com. Good luck!

Congrats.. Almost bought a RAV4 Sport before I got the XB. The XB is so much more fun to drive and feels a ton roomier as well.
Have to say, I would imagine that a lot of cars would be more fun to drive than the Rav4 lol. Don't get me wrong, I love my car but I really would like to get another one before I end up killing this one and it retaining no trade in value. The nice part about the Rav4 is that it has a pretty high resale value.
