Has anyone had any problems with their air conditioner? I bought my car Dec. 2007 and in April 2008 (4,100 miles) the two driver's side vents were not blowing cold air. The passenger side vents were blowing cold air. If you put one hand on each side you could definately feel the difference. I took the car to the dealer and they said that the tech performed a test and found no leaks, they only found that it was low on freon. So they added freon. Now Aug. 2008 (6,900 miles) it seems like the again the problem is starting to happen. Not every time I use the air conditioner but on occasion I can tell the driver's side vents are not blowing cold air, just blowing air. Anybody have any suggestion or has had the same problem?

One side blowing cold air doesn't sound like a freon problem. Freon either cools or doesn't... that is, all vents would be cool or nor cool at the same time. Sounds like there is an issue in the air mix (evaporator / heater core) housing that directs cold air to the vents. I'd have them look again.

Yeah it didn't make much sense to me either but since it was cooling after they added more freon I was hoping that the problem was solved. But like I said, it's starting to happen again but not all the time. I'll be taking it back to the dealership in the next couple of days....thanks.

Try going to an auto parts store and borrowing(renting) the type of thermometer they use to check the air temp at the vent. Then next time it happens measure the actual temp so you can take that information to the tech.

Just because the tech found no leaks, doesn't mean there's not a leak. If the freon was low, they filled it up, and then it cooled for awhile....sure sounds like a leak. Freon never wears out-:)

Might have them check the freon again and if it's low again they should look harder for the leak.

If they have to add freon, tell them to put dye in it. That way it will show where the leak is. The thermometer is a good idea Midlife, you can actually buy one for a couple of dollars. Is the controls set to recycle air? That makes a difference in the air coming out. Is there actually more force coming out one side compared to the other? Thats the part that doesn't make sense if there is.

Thanks for all the advise. I'm taking it back to the dealership tomorrow morning. But to answer a few questions, they same amount of air is coming out of all vents. But the two on the drivers side are not as cold as the passenger side. Also, I have all the controls on correctly. I'm in Florida and I use the AC all the time. That was the first thing I checked. I spoke to my service guy today and he was going to have them check the temp with a gauge and also recheck for leaks...I'll let you guys know. THANKS!!!!
