I finally had my TRD CAI installed. Love the performance. Then I noticed the "negative" plug of the battery is really close to the "Intake Tube" metal body part. Whoever had that installed should know what I am talking about.

My question is, during the operation of the vehicle, I mean in case or if the Intake tube touches the battery negative plug, would it create any shock or anything?

Thanks!

The short answer is "No". The negative terminal of the battery is "ground potential" as is the engine block, intake tube, etc. so there is no difference of voltage potential that could result in a shock. "Really close" is not a problem...touching could, in the long run, cause a wear problem as the intake does move somewhat and the battery remains stationary when the engine is running.

Thanks Brewski, and thanks for the correct term of "Negative Terminal:, I just could not think of what is that call.

Second thought, if I use those black electrical tape and tape around the intake tube, just for that area, even down in the road for what ever reasons it touches the Negative Terminal, it should be ok? or I am thinking too much?

You're thinking too much...I took a look at my CAI and the only place it is close is where the negative terminal cable is connected to the frame/body of the xB...which electrically is the same as the terminal...still not a problem.

Have you seen an increase in MPG w/ your new intake?

Also, TRDsparks, looking to put them on sale? :naughty:
