Does anyone know what it takes to remove the knobs fron the controls? I have some new inserts I want to put on the face but not sure if the knobs just pull off or if I have to take the unit apart. Any help would be great..

Um can you be specific? You say knobs but what your describing sounds like your wanna put on a new guage face.

Yes Evil, thats exactly what it is, I found some inserts on ebay,

and I want to install them without tearing up the controls. It all started with metallic red decals :yes: and kept going from there. I'm getting into the scarlet and gold theme (Marine Corps colors) . Bob, I thought that they would just pull off also, I get them halway off and they just stop. No visable lock screw or nothing that I can see without taking the whole tower apart which is what I'm trying to avoid. I've already got the bike apart in the basement as I started to do some mods for the spring so I really don't want to have the car apart to.

Yeah I know that guy. Haven't checked on his stuff in a long time. Most likely they stick on top and you don't have to take them apart. If you got questions check his website, he may have directions and if not email him he is a nice guy. It where I got my guage face overlay from. I am thinking of getting a new one. I am kinda tired of Iron Man already. I love Iron man but I think I want something less specific and more universal.

Sorry Joey, but they don't stick on. They actually replace the stock inserts which is why I want to pull the outer rings off the knobs..

Why not send the ebay seller an e-mail. They ought to be able to tell you how they come off.

I just got an email from him. He said that you do have to take the knobs off. At the moment its a 30min job. He said he is trying to find an easier way to do it.

so wouldn't that technically make them UNDERLAYS instead of OVERLAYS. I think someone needs to do some rewording on their ebay page!

Well that depends on how they install. They could techinaclly still be overlays but your have to take the knob apart to install. I don't know for sure as I haven't done one yet. I will be though.

Yeah I got my first overlay for my speedometer gauge from him and was not pleased. He didn't seem to really care....I like some of the Ac/heat controls he has, but won't be doing business with him again after the hassle with the speedo gauge. Took forever to receive (in spite of his site saying it would be mailed within 3 days) no communication.....just ignored complaints....totally not someone I would recommend for anything. Have another friend who ordered a face from him....it's been well over a month...she doesn't have it yet...but he has the $$

Got a much better cleaner gauge from Jeremy at No Limitz....if I were you I would contact him and see if he can do something like that...at least you will get your stuff, you will be happy with it and it is someone that cares about making customers happy.... Link is in my siganture

I didn't have any problems with him, recieved the inserts in a couple of days. I just haven't had the chance to e-mail him to see if he knows the quickest way to remove the outer ring on the control knob.

Did you get it from him through Ebay? Might be easier to get him to respond and send quicker when done through EBay as to not tarnish his "rep" there. I had gotten it direct from his website...to save him fee's.....

Although I did notice that he has some negative feedback as well recently.....
