I was wondering if there were any applications out there i could use to stick an ornament, ie. a hulu girl, on my dash without damaging the plastic/vinyl. I was thinking of either velcro or double sided 3m tape. Anyone have suggestions? I want to avoid discoloration if possible.

Try that removable double sided tape w/ the little tab that you pull to release it. I suggest that over regular double sided tape because that may leave some behind & the hair dryer / goo gone method may mar the surface. I wouldn't worry about the discoloration - the tape shouldn't do that, but over a long period of time the rest of the dash may fade slightly.

I don't know about the possible damage it might do because the Velcro hasn't been there much more than a couple of months, and I don't want to remove it just to see if there IS damage.

For years I had my radar detector attached to the windshield using the suction-cup bracket that came with it. I got tired of seeing it jiggle all the time and fall off on really hot summer days.

Velcro to the rescue. It not only doesn't jiggle, but it is covert, whereas when detectors are attached to the windshield they attract the attention of the police.

And no, I don't speed; it's just that some of Oregon's maximum speed limits are ridiculously low (65 MPH on the Interstate and 55 MPH on all other highways--even if it's a straight road across our eastern desert). My detector tells me when the buggers are out hunting.

Give Velcro a try....I doubt if it will hurt your dash.

I use the scotch double sided automotive trim tape, It works real good and comes off pretty easy, any of the residue left comes off with WD-40.

I just put in dashmat I got from Ebay. The 2008 dashmat XB fits the 2009 just fine.
My family has another XB 2008 when they went to put in the Dashmat with the Velcro they wouldn't stick because the car wash had sprayed Scotch Guard on bare dash. Nothing will stick after that..

Well, cute pictures so I will have to upload one too. I fly HUGE kites at festivals and so mine is the kitebox or should I say Texas License plate KITEBX for lack of another letter. I figured it was only fitting to put my charlie brown figure on the dash holding his kite.
THe club I belong to is the South Houston Area Recreational KIteflyers or SHARK so I have a stingray box with the shark fin antenna to stay with the theme.

I will have to take a few and add it later. I also have a black grill for the bottom and a silver mesh for the top. The thought was to put Plexiglass teeth that can be lit at night around the bottom. opening. If you search the web a guy was selling foam teeth for cars but went out of business or sold it.
