Factory ignition coil (left cyl) failed after 90K miles.
I replaced with Napa part which lasted about 8 months.
Second Napa replacement lasted less than a week.
I'm now a confirmed user of Toyota Ignition Parts.
(There was no significant price difference between Napa and Toyota.)
(I must confess I drive my '06 xB hard.)

Disappointed to learn the NAPA coil didn't work out :(! I'm just trying a coil from an Ebay source that is supposedly equivalent to the 90919-A2001 (standard xB2 replacement these days). The price was good, but I'll find out with time how reliable it is.

First of all, WELCOME! (is Venusdave's first post)
Also, the 06 is a gen 1 xB. It's a different beast, mechanically, being based on an Echo, while the xB2 is based on the 150-series Corolla. I hoe you find this forum interesting and helpful, though it is built on the xB2, not the xB1.

Back to the specific topic:
Having formerly been an fan of VW and all its foibles (drove 87 Vanagon, Wolfsburg Ed for 7 years) and of Mazda (driven a Miata since Jan 1999 and as my primary/only vehicle till June 2008 when I got my B), I've been impressed with Toyota. They make better products than I expected and I've come to really like most of them.
The Napa ones failing so fast surprise me, however. Napa usually sells good stuff and I haven't had issues w/ parts from them (unlike Auto Zone and Advance).

This thread is particularly interesting and relevant for xB2s, as there was a batch of bad engine harnesses during the 08 model. They have failed, but were replaced by new ones by Toyota and those seem to be holding up well.

Thanks for posting.
