So, i got a new job that will put me on the road a decent amount. I want to make the ride a little more comfortable. I have installed stereos in many different cars, but never a nav/dvd unit. How much different is it? Also, what particular units do you recommend? Thanks

Really no difference other than the size. Also there is a parking brake wire that "must be connected to the parking break" as to allow you to only watch dvds while the vehicle is in park. in actuality all you need to do is connect it to a ground somewhere.

Some people say it has to be a different ground than the deck itself has but I have never had any trouble hooking it to any ground what so ever.

Good luck

Not really all that simple. Regardless of what some say, size matters. And sometimes trying to cram a double-din into the dash isn't very easy. Especially if the one you end up going with has lots of inputs, that means tons of short RCA cables that dangle off the back of the radio that now also have to fit. As far as the parking brake wire, that all depends on what unit you get. On, for example, a Kenwood unit all you would need to do is ground the wire. However, some units, like Alpine, require that you also hook up a wire at the foot brake. Some Pioneers you have to move a wire up a pin in a separate harness, then connect it to ground and in most others you have to use a relay to throw ground after the radio turns on because it won't work if the wire is already grounded at power on. Yes, same ground as the one used for the radio works fine in all cases.
