When I installed some more b/u lights, I ran a wire from the existing light up thru the c pillar down the tail gate and it only took ~15 min's. Used a electrical snake to guide the wire. The only question I have about the camera is, will it transmit to a monitor on the dash or do you have to run a wire for that function?

I am using those 2.4Ghz transmitter so I dont' have to run a wire from the back to the front to the monitor. They seems to work good, only very minor interference on the display.

What is an electrical snake? where to get them?

It is a stiff metal or non-metal flexible wire element that is used to run behind walls or in an area that can't be otherwise accessed to install wires for circuits. I found one at Harbor Freight for ~ $12. They are also sold at home supply stores and hardware stores.

Reverse pink trigger wire in kick panel

Hey guys. Just bought a similar backup camera on ebay and I'm going to hook it up to stock headunit. Bought an adapter from beat-sonic(BCUS3) found here: http://www.beatsonicusa.com/bcus3-536.html and it says I can hook it up to a pink reverse wire found in the drivers side kick panel. Anyone know exactly where this is located? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the info. Got it wired and works great. However, when I raise the volume on my headunit and the bass hits it causes interference on the camera. Any ideas on what this might be? Thanks again.

Bass hit = lots of current->lots of magnet movement->lots of vibration. Could be either an electrical interference, current surge, or a mechanical vibration.

For mechanical, observe and/or feel to camera to detect shake and if so, make the mounting stronger and/or more resistant to vibration.

If not, then try electrical. Try to isolate the wire runs. Or maybe during bass hits, your amp is pulling too much current for your existing wiring to handle. You may need to run a larger power wire and/or ground to the amp. Do the "Big 3" (power and ground wires in the engine bay). In extreme cases, install a second battery or a capacitor.

Have fun and good luck!

Thanks again. I narrowed it down to mechanical vibration. The camera is just super sensitive to vibration and anytime it is shaken it disturbs the picture. I'll work on trying to dampen the mount. What do you expect for 18 bucks. Thanks again.

Hi there,
I got the beat sonic and the ebay camera installed by the shop today.
It didn't work. (paid $127 + tax )
The guy at the shop said the head unit must have bespoke installed.
He hooked up the camera's power wire with the backing light.
Somehow the HU couldn't' detect the camera.
And he kept saying the HU is not compatible.
I show him the http://i.imgur.com/MIR3snp.png but still he couldn't get them to work.
Help....

I would test the camera on car battery to make sure your camera isn't a dud. Just how up your rca for video should be yellow one.

I ran into the same problem with my 2014 xB basic head unit (no bespoke) and below is how I solved the problem. No, bespoke is not required.

1. Make sure to install the pre-crimped purple wire from the beat sonic kit to the #2 slot on the 28-pin connector. The instruction says this step is only required if you have bespoke but I did it anyway. Then run and splice the other end of the wire to the car's reverse signal (big red wire) as specified on this URL http://i.imgur.com/MIR3snp.png[/url] .

2. Make sure to provide ACC 12 volt power to the red wire on the beat sonic wire harness.

3. As for the ebay camera or perhaps other cameras as well, it needs a constant 12volt as soon as the engine is started to work with the head unit. So do not power the camera by tapping into the reverse light red wire because the 12 volt is not there until one shifts into reverse. What I did is tapped into the purple wire for the rear window wiper because it is always hot (12 volt).

I don't know why the camera has to always be turned on but that's how I got the head unit to detect the camera. I also noticed the head unit will switch to the camera view only when the engine is on and car shifted to reverse. It will not switch to the camera view if the engine is off.

So. I have the rear wiper delete plug, which honestly doesn't fit well and wasn't color matched AT ALL. Anyways. I want to add a back up camera, but do it a little different. Has anyone replace the rear sprayer with a backup camera?

I drove the RS 10.0 before buying my base model, and like the backup camera that uses the stereo monitor. I found two companies that sell kits similar to the factory setup and wonder if anyone has tried either of them?

SCION XB OEM Backup Camera System

https://camera-source.com/products/toyota-oe-fit/scion-display-audio-backup-camera-kit

Also, has anyone pulled up the trim pieces necessary to install one of these? Is this something I should try, or leave it to the pros?
The eBay sold "camera source" claims it's fully compatible you just need to add a "trigger" wire to a harness of the stock radio and it's supplied by camera source. It looks oem. I haven't purchased it, but it seems cool and is fairly priced.

Help replacing stock camera 2015 XB

Hello,

I got the new 2015 Scion XB which came with pre-installed back-up camera without the grid markers on the screen.

I would like to replace the stock camera with one with the grid line guides on the screen.

I just replaced the license plate lights with leds and I saw the connection for the backup camera inside the rear hatch back panel.

Do I need to just remove the camera and swap it with the grid camera or does it need a separate line to connect to the BeSpoke Radio in order for the grid camera to work?

trisker01, did you (or anyone else) find a camera with grid lines that was a direct swap without changing any wiring?
I am thinking about going to a local junkyard and buy a camera from a 2015 Toyota, after I research which models had grid lines.
