This wasn't a "stay away" experience, but I had kind of a weird experience at Kings Toyota/Scion in Cincinnati, Ohio. I had been saving for an 08 xB for a little over a year, obsessing the whole time, and working with one particular sales rep (let's call him "Fred"). When the time came to purchase, I waffled back and forth whether to take delivery of my second choice in color (in stock and on the lot) or wait for my first choice, which had to be driven in from >200 miles away.

I changed my mind a couple of times, and one of the times I changed my mind was during Fred's "day off", so I talked to a different sales rep (call him "Justin"), but told him that I had been working with Fred. Justin assured me he would make a note that this was "Fred's deal". I was trying to respect Fred's "day off".

I ended up changing my mind back again, and when I finally got back in touch with Fred, he was kind of short with me and made a comment that I should have called HIM (on his day off) rather than talking to Justin, because now I'm "Fred's AND Justin's customer", meaning that my waffling had cost him a share of the commission for the sale.

I apologized, not knowing the logistics of auto salesmanship, and he was nice about it after that, but the whole episode made me feel a little put off.

The way I see it, I'm the customer, the customer comes first and how they handle who gets what share of the commission isn't my problem and should have been transparent to me, and Fred shouldn't have made that comment about it.

Although... in Fred's defense... Justin did tell me straight to my face "this is Fred's deal" and all he did on my behalf was make two phone calls. To claim part of Fred's commission (with whom I'd been communicating for over a year) seems a little greedy, but then again these are car salesmen we're talking about...

I was a little irked when I took my xB into the dealer (that I purchased it from) to get the latch on the rear seat replaced. There was a TSB and everything, so it got taken care of. I dropped my car off and I hung out in their "lounge". 3 hours later, I decided to drop by the tattoo shop to see what's up. Just as I got there and started bs'ing with everyone, they called and my car was done. UGH!
But that's not the bad part. :D I got my car back and noticed that my stereo wasn't on the same track that I left it on... I turned my stereo off, so that should've been that... I checked my subwoofer gain setting on the headunit and it was turned up 5 clicks (I run my subs at -2). I wasn't happy to say the least. I've invested a bit of green in my stereo. How would the service manager have felt if they burned up a $1200 amplifier?

Hmmm, discussions on DIY oil changes made me jack up the xB and take a look. Sure enough, the engine access panel that needs to be removed for the 5K oil filter/oil change is missing!
Serviced by Palm Toyota/Scion, Punta Gorda, Florida....and from the looks of it they may have "cut away" part of the other panel (or if it is a "hinged down" portion of one big panel than in fact it was cut it away.)

I would suggest that everyone take time to check their xB as I'm willing to bet that this is a common practice with many (if not all) Scion service departments.

This will be an issue with the Service Manager when I take it in for the next service. More to follow after the next visit to Palm Toyota/Scion.

Here is a followup on my post concerning the "under panel removal". After an e-mail to the Palm Automotive Customer Service Rep outling the "cut under panel" situation and asking her to follow up with the Service Manager I received a voice mail, followed up with a phone call from the Service Manager. Bottom line....one Service Tech out of a job....replacement part on-order. Service Manager stated that it was not the first time they had a problem with the tech...but, the last time. He also, stated that the under panel covering the oil filter is designed to protect the filter from being ruptured by road debris...which makes for a good reason to keep it in place. So Palm Automotive is off the hook (at this time.)

i had a scary service experience
so i drive into the Richardson Toyota service department (Texas) for my 5k mile oil change
well soon as my car comes back i see a scratch on the front of the hood and my tpms sensors gone
well the guy try's to argue with me saying that i never had tpms sensors on
and all he could say about the scratch was that the guys that wash the car must have scratched it
but before they took my car i said please do not wash my car
all in all i got the scratch buffed after my husband came and had a talk with the guy
and a few days ago i get a small package from scion with 5 tpms sensors
all in all they suck at that service center

Follow up on the above...took the xB in for the 10K service....was told that they had the new "under panel" (under carrage cover) and would install it along with the service...got the car back drove about 40 miles prior to returning home. Then dummy me decides to check to make sure the panel was changed...dang! No panel at all :eek:hno:....too late to call the dealership...paper work shows it was replaced...now either it was replaced and "blew off on the return trip"...or it was never replaced...either way I'm going to have it resolved. More tomorrow...but for now Palm Automotive is back on the hook!

All of the above is "bogus"...I was  to find that I was  The panel was in fact installed, I just did not realize just how little had been cut off on the 5K service and was looking for more (from above) and did not get under the car...O.K. it was dark and wet...that is my story and I'm sticking to it! Well anyway I had to be wrong at least twice this year...so that is behind me!

Palm Auto in Punta Gorda, Florida did no wrong (this time)!

It is just the second plastic panel just behind the lower edge of the front bumper covering the area below and behind the radiator for the width of the engine and is only about 12" to 18" deep at the widest point. Not too much to it but, it does protect the oil filter from damage from road debris.
