i first wanted black, however, after reading up on how hard it is to take care of, white and black berry crush come to mind. i want something cool for a guy, college student....the old blue color looks sweet...however, it shouldn't be too much of a pain to take care of, i'm expecting to wash it once a week. does anyone have any advice with these colors on their scions and how the maintenance is?
thanks for the help.

If black was your first choice, then go with black. If you're planning on washing once a week anyway, then the fact that black shows dirt the most won't be an issue.

Personally, I'm not into white cars, and silver wasn't an option for me because my last car was silver and I wanted something different.

I waffled between black sand pearl and blackberry crush metallic, but with the BCM, to my eyes, in cloudy/overcast lighting and/or it's a little dirty, the deep purple color doesn't show thru and appears a muddy brown. I don't want to drive a brown car.

Keep in mind that a car is a long-term investment, and the color is something you will have to live with. This is what swayed me back to black (my first choice) over BCM. I thought, a few years from now, I don't want to be looking at my car and thinking "I should've gone with black."

Go with YOUR first choice. Each has their pros and cons and people like them for their own style, taste, and associations.
(I have mentioned some of my color associations previously and risen the ire of other posters.)

Blackberry Crush is one that people either tend to really love or not like much. I've heard very few neutral opinions on it.
(It just looks too brown to me-> they had one one the lot as their demo and I drove it and looked at the color in several lighting conditions. The purple just barely showed for me. I liked Silver more.)

Black Pearl was my second choice for the 09s. I got silver and the main "flip" between them was the washing issue and propensity to show/hide dirt and chips. I live in rural South Carolina, where there are many dirt and gravel roads still and some old roads (that are remote, but I still use) that haven't been paved in decades and are degrading. So, It is likely to get very dirty and have numerous "strikes" by small rocks.
-> I have already replaced my xB's windshield and have several chips/small gouges on the front-> in 6 weeks and 3,600 miles, and my Miata has had several windshield replacements in the last decade.

White is hard to find on the road, but (I've been told) is popular for body wraps. tt does have the advantange of hiding dirt, dents, and much else.
-> That was my third choice for 09s.

IF the Nautical Blues are still available, I'd look into them. It was my first choice overall, but just couldn't convince myself to get an 08 when the early 09s were available. Blue was tied with Silver as my favorite for me.

So, between Black Sand Pearl, White, and Blackberry Crush, I'd go with your first choice.

I wanted the dark blue and the family wanted teal. I got the teal and love it. Stays clean looking for weeks. I have a black Solara convertable thats parked next to the XB and that needs to get washed every weekend.

I don't buy white cars anymore after realizing that all 3 white cars I've owned were hit.

If you like you're car looking clean, don't get black. I'm guessing that as a college student, it'll be parked on the street. That means that it'll look dirty shortly after you wash it. After owning a "burgundy" colored car several years ago I figured that black couldn't be much more work. Big mistake. When I was xB shopping I was interested in the white, but saw one in a parking lot that hadn't been particularly well cared for. It showed every grease streak, smear, bug splatter, sap drip and tar spot, plus every seam was accented with grime.

I guess that means Blackberry Crush is the winner!

Not much will look better than a freshly washed and waxed black car. Unfortunately, after about 5 minutes the dust will start to collect, and all that effort will have been pretty much wasted. I had a black Chrysler in the late 80's early 90's, and it was a royal PITA to keep clean.

BCM.. take it or leave it. It looks fantastic in the sun when it's clean. Not enough light and it turns a dull brown.

White will shine the longest. Dust won't show right away, although pretty much anything else will.

All boils down to how much work you are wiling to put into keeping it clean. None of those colors will stay clean looking for long, especially after a rain storm or riding down a dusty road. If you are torn between the three, maybe try tossing a dart at a color chart :)

Remember.. *you* have to live with it for a few years.

If you wash your car once a week and keep it waxed I think that you should go with BSP as your first choice. Vanilla is vanilla if that's what you want. As stated before, white is a good choice if you want to put stickers all over it.

I’m a college student and know what you mean, If it were me out of the 3 colors I’d pick BBC. White and black are so old and played out and everyone has them. I personally like my Nautical Blue thought and we highly recommend it. :).

Can't resist throwing in my 2 cents worth. Being completely objective, you have to go with the color you're going to still love a year from now (even though SW is obviously the coolest choice and from somebody else's rearview it looks like a Storm Trooper) :D
