This was your thread. Ask whatever you want.

I'm going to black out the center of the bumper soon. I can always put the license plate holder back on there once I'm done. But I was thinking of covering the holes with bondo & painting. Then, installing the plate on a holder on the right or left corner of the bumper. Can you guys recommend or show photos of a plate holder for the corner of the bumper for a Gen2 XB?

Also, other than paint... Is there good film that can be used to black out the bumper like the stuff used for the A-pillars? If so, I suppose the stuff would need to be heated to conform to the shape.
Edit: The pictures at the top of page 2 (original 10-post, page format) show both a-pillars and grill. It demonstrates how each changes the look of the xB.

Ooooh! The Miata. BTW, I went with lighter wheels thanks to your wheel weights post (Here or on Club XB, dunno).

I love Miatas, but my wife gives me a lot of sh1t about the possibility of buying one.

Also... your bumper blackout is vinyl right? Satin or glossy?

I have thought about doing this....can you post some close up photos to see how they look? How hard was it to peel them off? I figure I would use a heat gun to do it but thought I would ask first.

Thanks!

Was it easy to cut to fit? Does the fit look clean and legit?
As it is a fairly complex set of curves, all HIGHLY visible, I let a local sign guy do it. I now could probably do it (esp. after watching and helping).
(Edit: I'm talking about the front grill black-out, as there are so many parallel discussions here)

Ok I'll see if I can get a good picture of mine. With heat, the only problem you should have is it coming off in smallish pieces.

Oh, also be careful around the windshield, because the tape can get stuck between the glass and the pillar.

Heat is a central trick in both getting vinyl off and on.

Couldn't agree more. I helped a friend with some vinyl stripes on his mustang, and heat was what kept us sane.

I also did his tail lights.
