C-Pillar Storage Nets

Hey,
I was considering buying some C-Pillar storage nets off ebay and installing them myself. But, they aren't simple to install (requires precision drilling into the panels) and are expensive, so I don't know if they'd be worth it. I think those cubbie areas in the c-pillars look kind of silly without any function to them, but don't want to go to the trouble and expense of installing the storage nets when I can't really think of anything I would store back there.

Has anyone who has the c-pillar nets found any good use for them? Seems like you couldn't store much more than a couple CD's or paperback books in there.

Hmmm, I know, I want them too! I agree, those cubbies look silly with nothing filling them, but they're so expensive for their low functionality. I have yet to find a price I like for them. GAH! But they look nice installed.

I got a cargo net from my dealership and had them install it (it requires precision drilling as well, but it's sooooo useful for organizing and keeping my stuff from rolling out!) and it was actually pretty affordable. They did a good job installing it, but no one else had asked for one put in before, so they were a "eh" at first about putting it in.
I have an overhead bin, c-pillar nets, and a cargo net on its way from Carson (site sponsor). All together, they cost the list price of the overhead bin.

I'm looking forward to the utility, but have no experience yet with any of the items.
I will report when I get them.
Hey somewhere on here is photos of what eric did with his. He made inserts that have the scion logo backlit. I may get to coping him one day.
I almost got the nets, but I thought to myself, what could you really store in those? I thought speakers would sound awesome, got some help from eric. You should think about it.

How's the overhead bin? That's another option I considered, but when I was originally shopping I looked at one installed on an xB on the dealer lot, but it seemed like a lot to pay for the ability to store two pairs of sunglasses. But I have heard others say you can store quite a bit more... I might have to go back to the dealer to look at another one installed; maybe I missed something the first time.
Slightly off-topic... but staying with the nets...

I got the Scion cargo net. It seemed, to me, to be rather tight across the length of it. I noticed today that it had broken the left-hand-side panel loose from the connector slot inside the panel. Big :(. Looking at the connector and slot that holds it, I can't help but think the panel's connection is way too flimsy for attaching a cargo net to it. Will get it fixed under warranty, but will probably put some kind of extender on each side to make it more loose and not so tight. Or drill holes somewhere else to install it where it's not such a flimsy connection.
I found this one day while surfing another Scion site.

I like it!

:) I like the idea of the speaker there... But I'm happy with what I have & with the law now... I think I will leave it as is for now....
I am considering buying this as well.
Looked on eBay but nobody that sells them describe them well enough.
Does anyone know if they come in pairs or do you actually have to buy 2 of them?
Well, I learned WHY mine aren't here yet . . .
Carson's system crashed not long after my order was placed. My stuff was gathered in "back," but there was no "ship" order for it in the system. So, they didn't realize it was back there! We sorted it out over the phone
They are now sending it to me at no shipping charged.
(That is for the overhead bin, c-pillars, AND a cargo net.)
Good deal :)

I have an extra set of c-pillar storage nets sitting around just in case my lighting project came out crappy or caused any damage. I don't think I need 'em, but I'm not sure I should part w/ 'em yet ;) ...I'm thinking the overhead bin might be a good purchase for me, but I don't want to dip in my wheels/tires fund. It seems like the most practical thing I could add right now.

wangster, they come in pairs and are basically a color-matched plastic frame w/ a net attached and do not include a whole new cubby to cover the existing one.
Thanks for the quick reply. I love forums with active members.
Some forums take forever to get answers...
Keep up the good work!
just did overhead storage-what a nice piece-easy to install once you stop shaking from cutting into your new car-lol
and also the cargo liner-very well made
thinking about the cpillar storage nets also-
ive liked the stuff with the exception of the bumper cover, they show and describe nothing like what you get,a piece of 50 cent skate board traction sticker with scion cut out-total rip off-
LOL
I love the way you described the rear-bumper protector.
Damn... I really want the overhead storage bin but I am not into drilling holes in my car...
It sounds do-able but just can't decide...
no drilling for the overhead storage-all the holes are premade-cutting the headliner is the hardest part
Remarkably easy, once you get over drawing on your headliner and taking a knife to it. The cutting template is significantly smaller than the console itself (a little close towards the front) and is easy to position properly on the headliner. As mentioned, no sheet metal drilling required...the holes are already there. Instructions are thorough except for the front mounting nuts. You have to pop them in the holes and get them to flip 90 degrees so they don't fall out. Headliner insulation tends to get in the way, so it helps to push it out of the way with a screwdriver then test thread the mounting screws into the nuts to make sure they're seated properly.

I documented my installation at Itsmyscion.com. The photos are posted in reverse order, so start on page 3 and go backwards. http://www.itsmyscion.com/Geezer/photo/4755/1

Now back to C-Pillar Storage Nets...
Hmmm... interesting and looks do-able. It might be nice to have a little place for sunglasses and whatnot...

I was kind of so-so on the overhead console originally because at the Scion dealer they didn't have an xB with the console installed, so they showed me one in an xD and told me it was "the same". Well, it isn't. The one on the xD has only one compartment that drops down a ridiculous length when opened. It is obvious from Geezer's pics (thanks Geezer) that the xB console box has two compartments that look a little more normal in size.

Thanks for the link, Geezer.
That might be helpful.
