Dash storage

I wanna paint the storage cubby that's to the left of the steering wheel but have no idea how to get it out. Would prefer not to paint it while it's still in the dash. Haven't figure out how to safely remove it.

I'm guessing that no one has removed pre tried painting the dash storage to the left of the steering wheel. Looks like a weekend project.

I don't remember seeing anyone who painted it. If you store things in there aren't you worried the paint would scratch?

Plan on priming, painting, and a healthy dose of clear coat

after looking @ the upper instument panel install/removal guide, that part is secured by four bolts from underneath. probably assembled prior to installation of the dash panel. you would have to disassemble the entire upper dash panel to get to 'em. a "big" job to gain very "little"; unless you can find a way to get to 'em from underneath.

thanks for the info. my crawl under my dash sometime this week and have a little look.
