Dealer Service Department Seminar

The dealer where I bought my xB had a seminar sponsered by the service department this evening. They had the owner of the dealership, Service Manager, Parts Manager, four technicians and two regional managers from Toyota there. They reviewed basic vehicle maintenance, answered questions, asked one of the attendees to volunteer their vehicle for a free oil change demo and you watched them do the job close up. Nothing performance oriented, but a good dialogue and you got to know the service people a little better. There were refreshments and goody bags (mostly Toyota stuff, but nothing Scion specific).

The event was Toyota corporate's idea...the dealer had never done anything like this in it's 16 year history. Although I didn't specifically ask, the impression was that with auto sales down, Toyota is promoting service. Worth going to if it comes to your local dealer.

Yeah, I'm not impressed with the dealer I bought my Scion from so they would have to make an effort like this.
Ya I wasn't impressed with the one I bought mine from either. They were ok...but the salesman really bothered me. He FELL ASLEEP in the back seat during the test drive.,...WTH??? I mean come on....he couldn't tell me crash test ratings....(car was too new)..Honestly i was surprised I bought the car....mostly because the manager I got along with and he was a good guy.

Got a letter from the sales man...had JUST taken my car to a different dealer for the next oil change...since it was paid. The letter was all toyota, no scion specific....definitely trying to sell more cars...but offered a free oil change. UGH. Might just take my husbands 91 tercel in for that free oil change since it wasn't SCION specific LOL.

Does your dealership vacuum the car? The one I bought the car from did....for the free oil changes....then I took it to the other dealership....and they didn't. Kinda bugged me since I could go to a non- toyota shop and pay less for the oil change and get the car vacuumed...yeah I know should use toyota parts...but I can always buy those and have the other place use them instead of theirs...
