Hey all i have been considering converting the xb to E85. Has anyone done this yet? What is the best kit to go with? And most Important what are the PROS and CONS on doing this mod? Should i do it or no? I live in so. dak. and e85 is like $1.85 a gallon which is about 60c less that what i pay for normal 87. would this help or hurt my gas mileage. Thanks in advance.

The engine in Gen1s work fine on e85. It just gets worse gas mileage.

Our engine SHOULD NOT run on e85. It isn't designed to run on ethanol and WILL "burn up" a stock engine. E85 burns hotter than gas, plus gets significantly worse mileage. The heat will do all sorts of "bad things" to stock engine internals. The engine will need significant work (a rebuild) to convert it, with many different parts.

I'm not a mechanic, so one will have to fill in details of what "bad things" . . .

Unless ethanol is MUCH cheaper than gas (like 1/2 or less, total), I wouldn't use e85- even if I could.
