Check your oil.

Yes if I leave within 15 secs of starting the engine when cold, I hear a faint clatter when accelerating. Mostly under 2krpm. Also about 5 mins after starting, at idle I hear a tapping/knocking noise. Once fully warmed up it's gone. To me it sounds like piston slap. It's been making these noises since new, and doesn't seem to get any louder, so I don't worry too much about it.

Does your engine consume any oil between oil changes?
You might make sure that the oil filter you use has an anti-drain-back valve. Some do not and can contribute to the problem you are referring to.

I have a knocking sound akin to the one in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXKNmadTXfc&feature=youtube_gdata_player.

I noticed the day noise after my third oil change (approx. 15k). the oil was overfilled by the technician and i did not check the level until after i heard the noise. the oil change was done at a local oil change place and not at toyota. the oil was corrected by another technician at the same place and the noise was much more faint. I later brought the vehicle to toyota to investigate the noise, $120 later no cause was identified but the oil was replaced. Drove the car home and the noise returned. drove back to toyota and they too had overfilled the oil. the oil was corrected once again and yet the noise remains. any insight/suggestions into this situation are greatly appreciated.
