Is anyone experiencing a shaking or vibrating sound coming from the engine when your parked or stopped at a light? I talked to the scion guys at my dealership and they say it happens in their xb to. I'm wondering how many owners are experiencing this. They also told me that with enough people reporting this scion will fix this problem. Maybe we all can get free torque dampers :D

I had a noise when stopped which was from the hood and a quick twist of the rubber stops under the hood area stopped the noise. Just gave the rubber stops a 1/4 turn counter clockwise and problem solved.

I too am experiencing this vibrating while the engine is idling. I don't notice it all the time. The car now has 8500 mi. and it seems to have started about 1500 mi ago. Also have somthing ratteling in the passenger door occasionaly And some bumps produce a metallic clinking sound from underneath the car. Like it maybe a splash or heat shield that a little loose. It happens as the front wheels hit the bumps.
Am do for an oil change so I'll have it checked out. Will report if any thing is found and corrected.
Also am wondering if anyones hood is loose? MIne can be pushed down and it will clink on the latch.

That is what was making my noise, the hood and hood latch vibrate against one another causing a rattling/clicking noise when the car stopped waiting for a traffic light. When the air conditioner is on it put more of a load on the engine causing the hood to vibrate more.

This has been mentioned on other forums and the fix is to put more pressure on the hood by raising the rubber stoppers. I fixed mine in 2 minutes and haven't been bothered by the noise since.

I always have my radio turned up too loud or have my kids in the car so a herd of elephants could stampede around the car and I'd never hear it.

Seriously, I've never noticed any odd noises from by xB.

I'm barely past 2K on my 2008 and the only vibration I ever hear is that confounded rear license plate. It's installed with the original Scion dealership plastic surround and screws, but it does vibrate at times.

I took one of those applicators for putting shiny on the tires, cut the foam off of it and stuck it on the back of the rear license plate with some clear silicone. Works great.

No vibrations noted on my xB. Idle rpm is 600, I have Fujita CAI, don't remember what idle rpm was prior to installation of CAI. Hood does not shake, license plate is secure, and the xB runs like a bat out of "heck"....loving it!

Since this was brought up about the back license plate vibrating, I took off my plate to clean behind it and found that the plate was rubbing off the paint. I put some touch-up paint on the hatch and reinstalled the plate using some rubber pieces behind the plate. Any vibration of the plate will be against the rubber and not the paint.

Thanks, I better check that!
