Ok so as some of you may know, I bought an inexpensive axle-back exhaust off eBay a few months ago. Well, when I'm in park or at a stop sign or red light, the exhaust tip makes this super-irritating rattle/vibration sound caused by it touching the lower edge of the rear bumper. It's done it enough to rub/melt the paint in that area off (none of that is visible unless I crawl underneath it). I put a rubber foot off one of my guitar pedals between the tip and the bumper, and that helped with the rattle/vibration, but just made that whole side of the bumper shake. After a day or so that fell out anyways...

Here’s a picture:

I’m not terribly happy with the sound of the exhaust, so I’ve thought about putting the stock one back on. In the meantime however, does anyone have an idea on how to stop it that doesn’t involve cutting the bottom edge of the bumper (the part you can’t see) out?

Thankya!

A somewhat longer hanger should work. Go to an autoparts store and see if they can get you one that connects like the ones your using, just a half inch or so longer.

Know about how much that would cost?
Can't be too much, but not sure.

Thanks for the help.

Like I said, I'm not all too thrilled with the sound of the exhaust, so I might just switch back to stock. Either way, I can't do anything like that for a while now.

It wouldn't be the only mod I've undone recently though - I took off my AVS vent visors... Looks a lot cleaner now.

My suggestion would be to take it to the nearest muffler shop and have them bend that pipe just a little to give more clearance between the bumper or somehow lower the hanger. good luck.
