Hello Everyone,

I am a first time car buyer and am contemplating purchasing a 2010 scion xB. I went to the Toyota dealership last weekend with a small budget and a small SUV in mind. When I pulled up, I told my friend I didn't even want to look at the scions. After looking at a few FJs and something else, I wasn't really feeling good about finding something I liked.

The sales guy talked me into looking at the Scion they had on the floor. After getting in one and then driving one around I was really impressed. It's deceptively big. I enjoyed the ride and thought the car would be a huge upgrade from my Chevy Blazer I have been nursing around for a few years.

Anyway, now I caught the bug and can't get the thought of purchasing one our of my mind. I'm agonizing over what color to get, and what upgrades I want.

I'm leaning towards a black one, but living in Texas is gonna make the car get really Hot. My second choice would be Crimson. Maybe White?? I don't know.

In terms of the rest of the car, I was thinking of getting,

Window tint
Floor Mats
Sport Steering Wheel
Molded Dash Applique
Premium Audio Upgrade by Pioneer

Congrats on stepping over to the Scion side. I am also from Texas- Austin.

I drive a Stingray Metallic, but would have purchased classic silver also.

As for your options, tint can be done cheaper away from the dealership.
There are many options for floor mats- Weather Tech, Lloyds mats etc. Also cheaper than the dealer.
I have the molded dash applique I purchased from the dealer. I like it, but should have purchased it elsewhere- TRD Sparks comes to mind.
I would purchase the upgraded audio but only if you are going to add an amp and/or sub.

I got the bug at the dealership, but since the car was not at the dealership, I went home and researched my options and found out it was cheaper to do these elsewhere.

Very easy, you got to take your time cutting the headliner.

Go to trdsparks.com and check out the accessories for the xB. Most of the installation instructions are located on their website.

I'm in the Brazos Valley area. I went to UT and working near College station. lol

Another completely noob question. I went with the automatic transmission because I was really tired of driving manual on my blazer (especially in austin).

I do however want the feel of a nice shift knob. I'm assuming its a pretty easy switch to do if I order one I like like this one

It is VERY easy to change.
It is just screw off . . . screw on . . . just like on a manual, only w/ a smaller central shaft.

if i were you, id go to autozone and just get a plain frame for like 3 dollars. at least thats what i did...

I got a free scion keychain when i ordered something from RS*SR, If you really want scion plates id try the dealer or look around online. Nice headunit...
