Front Tint to match Rear Tint

So the xB2 comes w the front 2 windows not tinted, and the rear 2 slightly tinted.

I want to get my fronts to match my rears...but I understand that the rears are made of tinted glass, and that added a film to the front windows isn't going to match exactly. My friend had this done (on his Pontiac Aztek), and his fronts are shiny and his rears aren't.

The shop i called yesterday (Masters Car Stereo, Greenville) said they can match the fronts to the back no problem.

My question to you is, is that possible/true? Or should i ask to get all 4 tinted...just like 1 step darker than rear stock?

Thanks for reading,
joe

You may want to check on the Laws in your State...in Florida the front door window tint can not be as dark as the rear. You would be just asking to be pulled over.

...and you WILL be stopped in Texas. Here, maximum for front is 25%; however, you can have limo blackout in the rear. In Tennessee, where we will be moving soon, it's 35% all the way around. My hubby's truck came from another state and he was stopped for not having on his seat belt because the officer could not see it for the tint.
That's interesting. I've wondered about front tint on occasion, but I also wonder what the impact is when outside light is poor or at dusk or night. I can always remove sunglasses, but not so easy with tint. Comments?
The tint on the side windows helps with glare from the rear-view mirrors at night and doesn't interfere with being able to see out at night or in low light conditions. Besides, tinted windows are sexy on an xB. I don't know if the new one comes with tint, but that will be on my list of improvements especially before summer.
Thanks! Do you happen to know what the OE tint % is on the rear windoows? Think I may just check into my State limits on the fronts :).
In MAss Tint laws are 35%. So I tinted my fronts 35% and they are basically the same as the rears. Sure there is a slight difference, but its really not noticable when looking at it.
SC is 27%....which looks to be the lowest percentage of all the states?! Wow! I guess i'll have to call up the tint shop that i have a giftcard to and make an appointment!
Florida Window Tint Limits

Front Side Windows Must allow more than 28% of light in. (Hmmm, would this be something less than 72% tint?)
Back Side Windows Must allow more than 15% of light in. (And would this be something less than 85% tint?)
Rear Window Must allow more than 15% of light in. (Must have side mirrors on both sides if tinted this dark.)

Also requires a sticker on the Driver's side door jam stating that the front/side tint installed is legal....never have seen this.

My Mazda tint on the front side doors is darker than I think is legal and I will say that it does make it harder to use the rear view mirrors at night.

Hope this helps...

Thanks folks :)! If Texas allows not more than 25% tint at the front, that's probably as far as I'd go with mine. It's looking like that's the most restrictive State.

actually the lower the percent, the darker the tint. Mine is 35%, another 10% and it would be super illegal in mass.
Just reviving this thread... I'm doing 35% tint on the front. What brand and type do you guys recommend to match the back in color tone and quality at least?
I just put on 21% on the front windows and they match the back windows perfect! Darker than NY law allows, so I'm hoping it won't be a problem! :naughty:
ditto. just did mine w/ 20% and it looks spot on!
I did mine with 30% and its a bit lighter but Mass wont let me go any lower and still get an inspection sticker.
Yeah i am at 20% its illegal and i am sure one point i will be pulled over. Fix it ticket . 20% looks close
I'm still doing 35% - I want to match in the color tone, not the darkness. You know what I mean? Some smoke is more blueish than others. Others are more grey than blueish. Just wanted to find a brand with tone similar to the back windows but lighter.
I live in Florida too. I have my windows tinted 5% over the factory tint and 5% on the front windows. In fact all of my cars have been this way. It is way too hot down here not to imo. Anyway, I have never had trouble with the police until about a month ago when I was ticketed by a state trooped for window tint. I paid the fine and went on my way. I will not remove it. I talked to my neighbor who is a State Trooper and he said that the trooper that pulled me over was being petty. They do not usually pull over cars for tint unless you are doing something else wrong. I told I wasn't going to remove it and he said he wouldn't either lol.
This is how my son's B looks with the front windows tinted to the darkest level allowed here in Florida:
