I'm in my late 30's, I commute daily in NY traffic (crazy!) with my manual xb, the car I originally wanted was a Focus ST but I'm pleasantly surprised with my xb + I saved probably over $7k by not getting an ST!

I usually leave my cars stock but the xB seems to take over your mind and make you want to customize it. Lol.

I'm probably tinting it and buying and installing an eBay spoiler in a couple weeks.

Future plans I'm hoping to get an intake, exhaust, and a rear sway. For intakes I like the trd, K&N, or injen. For exhaust I like the borla single tip axle back or tsudo cat back. I don't know which combo to choose but I want a good sound non drone.

I'm not going to change my headers so the above upgrades I assume are more "fun and sound" than actual seat of pants performance upgrades. I realize that the xb is not a performance car but it's still fun as heck nevertheless!

I'm also nervous about how any upgrades will affect the factory warranty.

I hope someday to be able to do these upgrades but NY ain't cheap ha ha.

Thanks for your time and an awesome forum.

if you shop around you can find good deals. I have a weapon r intake which I'd also recommend. Good product, easy install. I picked it up lightly used off this forum actually. And as far as exhaust I have the tsudo catback. I love the sound. Not loud and no drone. Perfect sound. Only thing that kind of bugs me is how big the actual muffler is. Its quite huge lol. But it looks and sounds good. I got it for $200 new shipped off eBay and I think it was a steal.
and I know what you mean about the xb taking over your head. I bought mine with intentions of leaving it stock as well but in the 3 months I've had mine I've bought over $1000 in aftermarket parts lmao

Thanks. I've heard good things so far about the tsudo but worried about the sound. I'm thinking the Borla will have a deeper tone. With your setup it sounds good and has livable highway sound?

yes, I pretty much drive only highway. And I usually stay between 65-75 mph. It has a good note and isn't very loud. With my music turned up to around 30 I can't even hear it

Sounds like maybe I'll go with that one eventually willie1321 thanks for the info. So it definitely sounds better than stock? It seems well priced.

Aftermarket parts won't void your warranty. A dealer must prove the aftermarket part is what caused the problem before saying they won't cover a repair.

Read this from TRD Sparks (Scion Dealership).
Thanks zinger. It's not like I'd ever do crazy engine work or chip but I was asking because I wasn't sure if Toyota gets cute if you do aftermarket.

My 2004 WRX came with a free membership to SCCA but if you joined AND did a autocross event they'd void your warranty I believe!

I kinda know what you mean. When I got my xB, I was 66 and once I got started modding ,I couldn't stop (with in limits). The car just calls for modding because it's so easy to do most of them. I think the most important, to me, was the intermittent wiper switch replacement and putting a useful cargo light and replacing the dome light with LED's

I saw a lot of people seem to swap the wiper switch with the prius great idea Dale.

I want to change the interior halogens to leds also but I'm looking at the bulb direct replacement kit ones from amazon I wonder if that's fine and the ones some use.

I hate the stock steering wheel also but I bought a slip on cover and it actually looks and feels good as a quick solution.

I had the dealer give me the standard '14 touchscreen radio in my '12 and I'm happy I got it it's a nice Hu and gives the car a premium look.

yes the tsudo sounds way better than stock! I also plan on the wiper switch. Speaking of the steering wheel some people have been making the switch to a leather rav4 steering wheel. They're around $80-100 on eBay and the scion xb airbag and audio controls all switch over. I'm going to do that one day as well.
