Gas cap fumbles

Ok all you out there... anybody get aggravated at that plastic cord attached to the gas cap? Yeah, it's a minor issue, but I find it is awkward and gets in the way of putting the darn thing back on. I'm thinking about removing it, but thought I'd ask. Maybe I'm missing some special Zen technique for handling it. Haven't really played with it much (I've only had my xB four days), but what's the S-curve in it for?

you just gotta hang it up the right way without twisting the cord, otherwise it will get messed up ;)
First fill up was a little awkward. Second time wasn't so difficult. The third time...oh wait, I've only bought gas for it twice. Where the hell are my keys? I gotta take the xB out for a spin.
Since my Tercel didn't have one of those it was a little hassle the first fill up, but after that it wasn't to bad. I really don't know what purpose they serve accept to make sure you don't lose your gas cap. And that can be a good thing, you know the not losing your gas cap!
