Trying to make the headlights brighter without changing the complete headlight unit or increasing the wattage of the bulb. Driving last night was enough to make you go blind trying to see the road.

Any experience with Silverstar bulbs?

Thanks

I've got 8000k, and I just got my dad some, for both of his vehicles, they're awesome!

The link is for the low beams only. Low beam bulbs are type H11, and high beam bulbs are type 9005 I believe. Both the low and high beams require individual ballasts for each bulb.

I only did the low beams for now because I barely ever use the highs, and when I do I can see pretty good.

I recommend HID's to everyone!

HID = thumbs up.

Got mine for like 60 bucks from a dude who knows a guy which knows his brother's girlfriend's cousin's step brother :p

10K all day.....color is blurple (sometimes purple sometimes blue) on the low beams. it looks grand.

Even my car looked excited when she got her bright eyes almost a year ago.

IMO, you really don't need HID's on the high beams unless you want to annoy people.

....oh and I have Silverstar bulbs as my high beams. really bright when turned on. Have it to this present day. It is A-OK partner :)

Thanks, it makes good sense to me...and the few times I used hi-beam they seemed o.k. to me as well..

I ordered and received these HIDs (8000K)...what is interesting is that they came in a plain white box with no markings and the ballasts have no brand markings or stickers... ??? it is almost as if they are "knock offs"....limited one page instructions (but a web site was provided for further info www.HID-LIGHT.com/install.html )

Guess only time will tell if this was a good buy...hopefully I will do the install today.

I don't know anything about HID "brands". I just know that some HID's are good quality and some aren't - HIDextra is apparently very good.

Anyways, how did the install go?

Installation is a snap...but, I now have a problem with one side not coming up to the 8000K (Blue)....both sides worked properly after install.. :eek:hno: less than a week later the driver side is looking like a 6000K (white)....swapped bulbs and problem remained on driver's side. Will swap ballast next...I am in contact with HIDextra....I will keep forum informed as to the resolve.

They're not too pricey, if you look at the right spot. (http://ddmtuning.com) ;)
This could be a better, cheaper alternative to the HIDextra....warranty seems better...I'm still waiting to find the time to swap out ballast to troubleshoot my low output issue on one bulb.

Update...changed out the ballast....further troubleshooting shows the bulb to be bad.... :eek:hno: got to quit working on the xB2 in the dark. I informed HIDextra of the problem and waiting to see if they will replace the bulb/harness assembly.

Second Update: Received two (2) new replacement 8000K bulbs (with harness) from HIDextra in the mail today....so it looks like HIDextra stands behind their product.
