Has anyone customized or bought an after market center console cover that is padded or added padding to the stock one? My center arm rest cover is ridiculously hard and uncomfortable on my 2012.

I'd suggest pulling it apart and seeing if you can remove the outer fabric in one piece with the option to put it back. If so, just remove it and cut a peice of 3/8" foam, glue it to the stock foam and them re stretch the fabric back over it. Sometimes the fabric has the foam glued to it, if so, glue the new foam to the actual armrest and then recover it.

in my old xB (2011) the fabric of the center console was pretty ugly

I pulling it apart ( it is just a piece of plastic with staples holding the fabric )

went to hobby lobby, get a nice piece of vinyl and padding, staple it back and put it back on the car, it really looks better than the OEM after I fix it

now.. I'm planning to do the same to my new xB

OK thanks. I'll try to take it apart when I get a chance, but I'm not good at things like that. Lol.

Its not that bad at all. The biggest pain was putting the fabric back on. Ill be doing mine over the winter I think.

Just take your time and itll come out just fine.
