Hey everyone!

I'm new here, this is my first post. I recently bought an 09' scion xB, and I love the car. I'll post pictures when I get the chance to take some. Anyway, on to my question. I have a cobra radar detector, and I'm trying to figure out how to get it to power on/off with the ignition without using the 12v lighter outlet underneath the shifter. I tried using every fuse possible, and couldn't figure it out...any solutions?

Thanks!

can't you just splice into the ignition wire so it turns on and off whenever you do the same with your key? Sorry if this is a dumb idea, I don't know that much yet.
Thanks for the reply! I'd be a little leary about splicing into my ignition. Maybe it would be better to splice into the cig-lighter?

Ok so I asked my brother about this and he yelled at me lol. I guess you are never supposed to "splice" into any wiring such as the ignition one :) My bad. He did however show me this tool he has that tells you which fuses stay on and which ones shut off when you turn off the ignition. I know this isn't much help but he found one in the fuse box under the hood...I just for the life of me can't remember which one it was to tell you. Lame I know. Hope this helps in some way!

There is no problem with splicing into a wire. As long as it is done right. Not just cutting the insulation back and wrapping the wire around the open are. Not a good idea. But if you cut the wire, solder it back together and use some heat shrink and you will be fine. It is all in the work that is done.
