State Farm lists mine as a van.
i just got a detailed copy of my policy and mine is listed as an SUV / small

i think i may be paying more due to this - my agent said the insurance company got the vehicle type from some data base of vehicle types used by the insurance industry...

i told him it was rated as the Best Van for 2008 by Consumer Reports so they obviously think it is a wagon....

i am going to call State Farm tomorrow for a new quote!

I'm with RBC Insurance, not sure if you have that down there, but they list mine as a wagon... :)... so it's cheaper than my 98 Integra was! baha!
Mercury Insurance = SUV, Small
State Farm Insurance = Sport Van
RBC Insurance = Wagon

i was told there is a national insurance database that assigns vehicle designations - if so, why all the different vehicle type ratings from different insurance companies? it seems like they can call it whatever they want!

I just called AAA and was told it's considered a Private Passenger Vehicle. He refused to look it up to make sure that's what they actually note it as in the policy.

I know on my registration it lists it as a wagon...

**edited to add that I just called back w/ my membership # and was told that it's a "4 Door Wagon"

thanks for the registration info - i am going to show that to my agent!

what i do not understand is if the DMV shows it as a wagon, how can different insurance companies classify it however they want?

even NHTSA classify it as a Wagon:

NHTSA Crash-Test Results
Test 4-door wagon

Front Impact, Driver 4

Front Impact, Passenger 4

Rollover Resistance 4

Side Impact, Driver 5

Side Impact, Rear Passenger 5
