Mine reads 18.5 all winter as my average. I live 8 miles out of town and the great highway milage (33-36 ish) doesn't bring it up much.
I have been a bit disappointed with it but still does pretty good for me. Im also in pretty extreme cold too tho.

I think the phrase 'in the city' says it all. A lot of stop and go plus when sitting at a traffic light, you're getting "0" MPG. Also using the heater, I don't think affects you mileage much.

Try restarting your average MPG on the dash before after putting gas in the car.

I get around 27.8 most times. If I use the Defogger (The A/C runs in Defog mode), I lose some MPG Points..... I used to reset my MPG reader all the time, and decided it was a waste of time.... Just learn to drive like a Grandmother and the B will get you over 20 easily. If you drive aggressively, your mileage drops off fast.

27.8 in city or just average?

Howsit!?

New to the site as well as proud new owner of white 2011 Xb. My initial reason for purchasing the Xb was finding a cool looking commuter that could also double as advertising for my brother's shop(Quality Auto Glass and Tint/Clear Bra) in Norcal. Been very happy so far but want to increase my mpg over the 27.2 that I seem to max out at. Anyone have any feedback on the GForce chips that claim 4-5 mpg increase? Glad to join the forum. Pics to come

Oh that's a bunch of malarkey lol! I get 20-22every week and I can drive like a granny and it stays the same. On a true freeway trip I have got at best 27. I can drive freeway for 1/2 tank and then the city will kill the rest of the mileage. I just don't see how anyone can get 30 + but I know that y'all do.i check tire pressure keep it waxed maintain it and watch my driving and no changes. I do know that my yakima rack kills some freeway mileage though, and I guess going up to a 225 50 tire probly eats a tad. Aside from that there is nothing more i can do.

LOl bummer! I often debate about taking my rack off when not in use cause im one of the few people who actually USE there rack, but **** its a pain to put back on cause im very anal about it being just right. I even got 21 mpg with my 16' canoe on top so I guess my box is happy with 20-22,I just topped off 100 miles 22.2 mpg yeah so awsome not really. oh well I guess I will one day find out how you folks beating the system. At least im not driving a big *** suv or pickup getting 13-17.

Way back when, I had a 1966 Buick Riviera. It had a 425 cid engine and got 5-7 mpg in the city. That was when gas under a dollar a gallon and I still couldn't afford it.
