Hi all
I had the 3m clear bra installed on my Super White less than a month after purchasing it. It has been less than a year, and the 3m seems to be 'yellowing' - mostly on side panels and behind my rear tires. Has anyone else had this happen? I paid over $800 for it, and I am disappointed with the yellowing....but it has saved my paint thru the new england winter!

Thank you in advance.

Welcome trixie storm. That's a bra bummer for sure. No experience with 3m clear bras myself, but I have some experience with 3m vinyl bus decals and that colortrac stuff holds up for years. I'd go back to your bra guy and if he won't make it right get him to check with 3M.

I talked to a company at a show here that does wraps. They laminate the vinyl on and guarantee it for 3 years saying it'll last about 5 years. They had a Smart Car on display and said it would run about $1,200 so a XB2 wouldn't be much more. I'm considering driving my another year or so and then having it wrapped....maybe just in a solid color like purple. I think the vinyl will hold up better against rock chips than the Scion paint.

An update: i took it back to the installer, and he is going to replace the 3m pieces on the fenders, hood and behind rear wheels - I am happy with that - he is doing the right thing. He will take it up with 3m.

Every single time I've seen a clear bra on a white vehicle, it yellows.
I've never ran a clear bra type of product, and I probably never will. I'd rather save the $1200 or so and possibly get my hood and/or bumper repainted periodically as I feel fit.

The installer said I could wax it as normal when he installed...and told me to use Tech 2.0. He now says he will provide some sort of sealer that should stop the yellowing. I boutght the 3m as it was guaranteed for 3 years, and would not yellow. The car is stored in the garage at home and at work - I can't imagine what it would have looked like if it was left out in the elements everyday.

I have had the clear bra on my gen2 for over a year with no problem at all. When I bought the car the guy that installed the bra told me specifically to not use any wax that contained carnuba wax as the carnuba causes yellowing.

I use Meguires tech wax and have not had any problems using it.
