I am excited going to do some paiting this weekend . Lets see engine cover and hubcaps, yeah still rolling on steelies, have to save for the baby that we are expecting. Lets see what else I can attack with a can of spray paint. Oh yeah maybe the heat shield for the header, anyone else do this? how did it turn out? :cheers:

just ordered the overlay decals from randode and the strut overlays. also the bullet style nuts for the engine cover. i like dem !

I did this a year ago. It's not as vibrant now as when it was fresh and that's gotta be due to engine heat (it's not hi-temp paint).

Take your time and be thorough with prepping.

Did you use any prime on the heat shield or anywhere else?

No primer. I used adhesion promoter on everything I painted. I cleaned them all real good before spraying of course.

HAHA adhesion promotor, thats a good name ! yeah plan on doing that for sure maybe a little light sanding .

I was thinking about doing the same thing but with my box being black, it might be a waste of time. I wouldnt want any other color besides black.

Been trying to decide on the engine compartment color. I think red because when i do get a new battery it will be a red top optima. I plan on doing some graphics on the paint of the car one day and trying to see what best matches the paint. Oyyyy !

i think i have too, how does the finish look uo close. was always worried cause of the finish. does it come out cloudy or nasty? looks good from that distance, you just maksed the reverse? cant see in reverse anyways with tint. ahhaha

The finish comes out great, I was very impressed with the spray on tint. Not cloudy at all. Just be aware the more you spray on the darker it gets. Yah, I taped off my reverse, I figure everyone tints the entire thing, so i would try to be a little different.

Now you need to tint the rear bumper reflectors!

The heat shield is a given. It's too easy to unbolt.
