Today I got a letter in the mail from Scion.
It's a Limited Service Campaign (limited time offer) regarding certain 2008-2009 model year Scion xB vehicles.
For a limited time offer (program offered until October 31, 2014) any Scion dealer will replace the Ignition Coils on the Scion xB at NO CHARGE.
Scion states that on certain xB's model years 2008-2009 "there is a possibility that under high temperature conditions a crack may develop on the circuit board of the igntion coil. If a crack occurs, the check engine light (MIL) could be illuminated, rough idling and a reduction in engine power may result. If this condition occurs one or more of Diagnostic Trouble Cods P0351, P0352, P0353, P0354 will be recorded."
So before you're inconvenienced, any Scion dealer will replace the Igniton Coils on your vehicle at an authorized Scio dealer.
Scion's gonna be proactive and fix the situation for you before it occurs. That's great customere service! There's been lots of talk on the forums about coils fouling out. Even though I'm only at 25K I'm gonna quickly take advantage of this offer. I'd rather be safe than sorry, especially since I've already suffered the dreaded "pink spray line" of the water pump issue. When I took it in, I received a brand new water pump with no questions asked.
For xB owners that have replaced the coils before this notice was sent out, there's a way to get re-imbursed for any repairs done to their vehicle. Just hit up Toyota Motor Sales.
I still love my xB after 3 1/2 yrs of ownership. I'll be a Toyota buyer for life.
