Looking for a owner in North Atlanta GA area!

Hi,
I'm a newbie to xB as you can see. I know a guy who builds exhaust systems from the hearer/s back and he is just North of Atlanta GA. He would like to get an late model xB in his shop to make jigs for a full 2.5" exhaust system. He makes great exhaust system as I have had a few of his systems for our Mazda MX-5's / Miata's. He biggest movers are for Miata's with 4 bangers to V8's, he build systems for MINI's, welds up systems for the company in the link below. He uses mandrel bends, Magnaflow & Borla mufflers, welds Mig & Tig, uses stainless steel or can get parts ceramic coated. He has his flanges custom water cut.

Please fell free to email at; [email protected] me or PM me anytime.

Bell Experimental Group - BEGi

Jason shop is small and he does it all by himself, this is his web site below.

Enthuza Car, Inc.

Thanks for looking,
AZ

You are indeed a "newbie", but my observation is you have a highly exaggerated opinion of yourself. You're welcome to the community, but please recognize the greater experience of those who preceded you. The value of the community is their combined experience and resulting insight, your presumed knowledge is helpful to no-one, most definitely including yourself. Best wishes :)!
What did I say to upset you?
I'm responding to the bull you dumped on us in the Scion xB forum -- playing innocent doesn't work, integrity does.

Here's the thread I'm referencing: "Scuba" is it a Cat and or Resonator? Plus... - Scion xB Performance & Tech Help - Scion xB Forum

I'm not saying your suggestion is bad, just that I'm unable to trust your opinion.
After I went under the xB with a mic. and found the front half of the "S" pipe is 2.5". I then wanted to do 2.5" from the OEM header to the tip.
Just for the record -- the OE "S"-pipe is aprox 2-1/4" for the first half and 2" for the second. The "scuba" entry pipe is also 2". When I installed the W-R "S"-pipe (2-1/2"), I ported the "scuba" entry pipe to match it.
As I recall a discussion somewhere is that the scuba is internally a high-flow cat, but the "heat shield" is built to be a double use as a high-flow resonator. That way, the sound levels on all the aftermarket exhausts are kept somewhat in-check from being insanely boomy.
As many threads in various forums attest, the "scuba" has a huge resonator (muffler) effect on the final exhaust sound. This cannot be accomplished by merely applying a shield to a catalytic converter, it has to be a deliberate design by the engineers. At one extreme is the OE axle-back which includes a resonator and results in barely any exhaust sound. At the other extreme is replacing the OE axle-back with the Borla exhaust that contains no resonators whatsoever and results in a sound that many find highly attractive.

On the other hand, replacement of the "scuba" with a cat is an aural disaster. In fact, even replacing it with a resonatpor and a cat typically results in excessive noise. It's more than clear the "scuba" is in fact very definitely a resonator (as well as a cat) and is in fact the main resonator. As I originally stated, the "scuba" is both a resonator and a cat. This is not something that should be misunderstood!
TrevorS,

Why don't you call Scion @ 1-866-707-2466 and follow the prompts? (#3)

When you get the nice Scion rep on the phone, ask the rep nicely that you would like to know what the 3rd piece of pipe is on the Scion xB 2008 to present day Scion xB exhaust system. That's what I did. I told the rep, "The 1st part is a header/manifold with a hole for the front/1st 02 sensor & a cat. The 2nd is a bent pipe some call an "S pipe." It also has hole for the back/2nd 02 sensor. I would like to know what the 3rd pipe is in the exhaust system. Can you please tell me?" It's large, and I would like to know what it is, please.

There is no reason why we can't all play in the same sandbox. Did your kindergartener teacher put a check mark in "Plays well with others?"

Don't be a troll, :nono:

Troll? You've surely got nerve, not sure about much else you may have to offer! You really think this post is going to further your respect in this or any other xB2 forum? I fully stand by every word I've posted! Let others judge!
Trevor does like to argue moot points...and after the thread on SL, id say you like to troll as well.
FWIW -- LEDmod didn't seem to think my input to his thread was moot -- surely it's his call. Funny think about "moot", it's that way if it doesn't effect you, but it's not if it does.

In any case, as Jack pointed out, it's not the topic of this thread.
Don't forget that as the exhaust cools, it requires less volume for the same pressure, gases are like that :)! That's why I'm comfortable with Toyota's pipe diameter reduction choices (about 1.8" for the "scuba" exit pipe). However, if you go turbo, then the gas flow changes radically! If you really want power, that's the route to explore :)!

Just reread my post and see that I'm coming across as a wet blanket :(! FWIW -- let me mention there's an easily noticeable positive difference in vehicle responsiveness between the OE cat back and my 2.5" Tsudo dual. How much of the hindrance is the OE rear resonator Vs rear piping diameter Vs dual axle-back pipes, I've no way of knowing, but there's very definitely a difference.
FYI,
Enthuzacar / Enthuza / Jason is out of town this weekend to enjoy sometime with his family.

I told Jason today 1-17-12 see if he could rent an xB when he gets back and I would pay for the rental. He asked if there was any difference between model's? To my knowledge there wasn't any as far as the exhaust system go's. Please let me know if there is.

My only issue is I installed a Curt hitch for a bike rack.

No difference in the exhaust system :)! However, the hangers for the exhaust can interfere with those used for the hitch. I hit that problem with my original Tsudo dual exhaust when installing a Curt. My solution was to modify the Tsudo hangers, but it's my impression the later version dual Tsudo exhaust has compatible hangers. Something to discuss :)!
