Just trying to get some input on which would be the better buy for my ride. I live in tampa and travel back and forth to Jacksonville to visit family. Road conditions in tampa are what i would concider to be CRAP (lots of pot holes and man hole covers that are elevated about 2-3 in above regular road grade). The road conditions between tampa and Jacksonville are not much better; ith the never ending construction on FL interstates now days. I was at the dealer getting service on my xB and i saw that i can get TRD lowering strings for $189. I have in the past had Hotchkis lowering components and loved them. I am not looking to do any rally style racing or any crazy wild turns in florida like in other moutainous states. Which do you guys feel would be the better buy. Also, I was told that TRD will not void the Waranty... Thanks in advance to the helpful insite.

According to Jamie at Sparks (site sponsor and a site member) . . .
The Hotchkis drops about 1/4 inch lower than the TRD.
Otherwise, the performance is supposed to be fairly similar.
Jamie's PERSONAL silver box has the Hotchkis sways and TRD springs.

I have been back and forth on these myself, but will probably get the TRDs. My nose already crashes on the awful repaving of Upstate South Carolina and Western North Carolina, esp. on entrances to stores where there is a dip between the road and store/eatery parking lot.

That 1/4 inch could make a difference!

Oh, and the TRDs are somewhere around 1.5 inch drop . . .

I had to do the comparison and the research. I asked people I know who have the different ones which is better. I have settled on the Tanabe NF210 instead of the DF210. The DF210 (Dress Feel) lowers the front 1.7 and the rear 2.1 and are a stiffer ride. The NF210 (Normal Feel) lower the front 1.0 and the rear 1.7 and have a softer ride. Since my car is a daily driver and we use it for road trips, I need the more comfortable ride. I have neon underglows and had to put an angle piece in front of the front one. Because the car sits at a rake, the front being lower, I was bumping that piece every time I left a parking lot. I like the rake, but am told that it has to go or lose the front tube. I will be adding 18" rims in the future which will bring the car back up off the ground a little, too, so that will give it a totally different look and feel.

I am not really looking to slam my car down to the ground. I am looking mostly to level out the rake to the car and close the fender/wheel gap. I already know it will increase my handling which is also a bonus. How long does it take to swap out the springs and do i need new struts for the front? I have only changed out spings on minitrucks and never on cars. I was also looking into getting a set of coilovers. so many decisions...
Does anyone have pics of a car with TRD springs on theres?

Look at the instructions on:
http://www.trdsparks.com/displayparts.php?Mdl_dtl=570&Part_cat=11&parts_id=1565
It will show you the work involved.

The TRD likely maintains the stock rake, while the Hotchkis looks to level it out . . . I think.
Jamie knows for sure. Maybe he will post here.

As for the shocks . . .
The Hotchkis and TRD ones are designed to work with the stock shocks/struts (shocks in the rear and struts in front) and also alternates.

it doesn't look as if it going to be all that hard to install. Just a little time consuming so that i don't mess anything up since i haven't really messed with struts before. But all in all it will be cake... Thanks for the info everyone.

I was thinking about this during the day... Do they make a leveling kit for the rear of the car? I was looking just to drop the rear a few inches to make it level with the front stock hight. I know they make them for full size trucks but curious about cars like ours. Another question... Does anyone know if other car's coilovers are the same part number as what we need for the xB? A friend of mine had an altima that he wrecked and a week before that he bought a new set of coilovers for it. He said for $50 bucks i can have them if they will work. I dought it but it is worth the question if anyone knows...

I lowered my b in an hour an a half messin around. You will need a strut spring compressor I bought a set yrs. back and they set in my tool box most of the time but are handy. I installed tanabe df210s I like the way it handles but man you have to be careful negotiating some driveways. The handling and the look makes it worth it to me. I had an old VW beetle that was lower than this and I drove it everyday so its no big.
oh and yeah the df210s close the gap up nice.

That is a good question. Can you lower just the rear a little?
You can, but then you'll be left with front springs. You can't just buy front or rear springs exclusively.
I recommend the Tanabe NF210's. You'll bring it down a little bit. Barely noticable, and it'll level it out. Plus, it'll give you a more planted feel. ;)

Here's a first I think, I run Sprints up front and DF210's on the rear. I really think my 09 Xb is cursed. Just never seemed to sit right with the Sprints. There are other boxes in our club running sprints and they sat lower so i went with Tanabe springs in the rear and they went lower to match the front..... Call me crazy but mine dosn't sit like others.
