Well, imagine my surprise on browsing through some old photos. :lol:

I found a picture of me behind the wheel of a 1967 VW I owned.

Around 1980-81 I took a hacksaw to the body and cut it across the top from the b-pillars, and down the rear window frames, and removed all that sheet metal and rear window. I then put on the fiberglass cap as you see it , although the paint job you see is from later, the cap was white on installation and the bug was green.

The shape of things to come, no?

Yeah, there were a few "parties" in the back seat :naughty:

I sold it in 1985 or 6.

better be careful if you are loading the rear in the Vandetta:

those tailpipes stick out pretty far!

I actually did see a Vandetta, just once, and did not recognise it for what it was until it was a half mile down the road. That was probably in the late 80s.

After searching for well over an hour, I finally found it. It was called the BGW Special Delivery. The parts I bought were the shell , rear hatch and interior panels. One of the ads actually claims 12 hours! Took me a few weekends plus... and it was all done in my backyard. I have a photo of me with hacksaw in hand about to take it to the car. If I can find that one I'll post it as well.
