Hey all,

I have had my '08 xB (3600 miles) since late april, and since then have had it in the shop once for a creak/ticking sound that came from the passenger side rear door. They fixed it and I was happy.

So tonight, after attending a work happy hour, I get in the xB and, upon driving out of the parking lot, immediately noticed a loud buzzing sound coming from the drivers side door. It was like a ticking sound that increased and decreased in frequency with accleration and deceleration, respectively. In neutral, at a stop light, it was silent. I heard it only when moving.

The creak from the passenger side was nothing compared to this, it was LOUD. I kept banging on the dashboard, the door panel, anything to stop this incessant buzzing. I even tried opening and closing the drivers side door, no help.

I was getting mightily annoyed, thinking "OK, not too impressed with Toyota/Scion fit and finish right now".

Then, while driving, I noticed that I had left my mp3 player hooked up to the AUX jack, and the auto timeout feature on the mp3 player had left it long powerless. In the midst of driving, with the buzz/ticking going full blast, I unplugged the mp3 player from the AUX jack and the buzzing immediately silenced. It must've been coming from the drivers side speakers. I plugged it back in, and... still silent.

I have no idea why the buzzing/ticking would have increased and decreased with acceleration/deceleration other than some kind of static interference or something, but just wanted to pass along this little nugget of information in case anyone else was experiencing something similar.

i was very relieved. It was annoying at the time, and I am pretty anal about the car but not anal enough to bring it in to the dealer over something like this. I am really hoping it was just some freak occurrence. :D

Do xBs have something to adjust the volume depending on the noise?
I know my Lexus has it and what it does is the volume gets louder when the noise is up.
Then the volume goes down when the noise is down.
At first it looked/sounded like a great idea but it's damn annoying.

I wonder if xBs have it too...

I have the premium Pioneer stereo and it does have that option.

I have 32,000 miles and I have that static sound just started. Sounds like its coming from the speakers or some bad stereo ground noise when I go 60mph and up. Its not always happening disconnect the ipod from aux didn't work.

Anyone got an idea?
Plz don't say drive slower..
