Hello,

I got the new 2015 Scion XB which came with pre-installed back-up camera without the grid markers on the screen.

I would like to replace the stock camera with one with the grid line guides on the screen.

I just replaced the license plate lights with leds and I saw the connection for the backup camera inside the rear hatch back panel.

Do I need to just remove the camera and swap it with the grid camera or does it need a separate line to connect to the BeSpoke Radio in order for the grid camera to work?

I'm pretty sure that the grid lines are software generated. Changing the camera will do nothing but change the perspective depending on the lens on the camera you install. Toyota took the cheap way out and just show the video from the camera without doing processing for lines. The camera seems to be there more as a check box for marketing than an actual drivers aid.

Not a fan of all these new features manufactures are adding, I like my cars rather basic. The only thing that I am interested in is the adaptive cruise control, where it keeps a fixed distance between you and the car in front of you. They can keep lane departure, blind spot detector and backup cameras. The day I can't parallel park by just using my mirrors is the day they can take my license.

Are you sure it is software generated? Those cameras for sale on Ebay comes with the camera, audio & video cables with ground connection to connect with the radio...but I don't see any software that comes with it?

Can any one else verify gedster314 theory?

The lines are absolutely not software generated. I've tried multiple cameras with my 2015 head unit and the lines are different depending on the brand of camera. I've also tried a variety of cameras hooked up directly to a television, and the lines are there.

The back up cameras I have tried, in other cars, adjust to the amount of steering you do and update your path on the monitor.

Good luck and update the post with what you finally settle on.

I just purchased a 2015 XB with a factory backup camera and the camera sucks. I want to replace it with something not factory, does anyone know the pinout for the camera plug? I'd like to use the factor wiring harness since its there but I don't know how to identify what each of the four wires does. The four wires are red, black, white and brown.
Thank you.
