I've been lurking on here for about a month since I bought our XB and thought I might as well join.

Our Honda minivan had let us down one too many times and we were looking for a replacement (I knew I should have stayed with Toyota).
I already own an 04 Matrix XRS and, since I began working from home this year, my wife had been favoring my car for it's superior gas mileage.
After test driving many Siennas and Highlanders, most with upwards of 75k miles, we stopped by our local Ackerman Toyota, coincindentally where I had bought the Matrix years ago.
They mentioned the XB that had been on their hands for over a year, the 2010 RS 7. We looked at it and laughed, and then left to test drive a Sienna.
Of course we talked about the XB the whole time. It was purple, which is a hard sell for men, and a stick shift which is a hard sell for women.
We went back and took it for a spin and burst out laughing, it was so much fun to drive and so goofy. They wanted it gone and gave us an incredible deal.
I used to be pretty neutral on the XB, didn't really see them. Now I just can't believe how much I like it.
I don't think we'll be doing any major mods to it, as its already a special edition and has nice alloy wheels.
I bought the all-weather mats (which don't fit BTW, I'll be replacing them with WeatherTech mats), and plan on buying Clazzios before the winter.
Maybe the rear spoiler (unfortunately not included on my particular car).
Cheers

Welcome!

If you're reasonably handy, you can install an OEM-style rear spoiler from eBay yourself, pre-painted, for less than 1/2 what a dealer would charge, plus save the installation cost. The paint code for Murasaki (purple) is 9AD. A number of people on this forum have done it (read this whole thread):

Probably the hardest part is nerving yourself to drill holes in your new baby. But once over that, it's easy. Have fun modding, it's an addiction!

Before I drill anything on a car,I always make it a point to have sharp drill bits. I'll buy a new one of the correct size if not shure. That way it won't walk off the mark. When one does this proceedure, do you take the hatch inside panel off and pick all the drill chips as stated in the PDF? Also, if you paint it yourself, where do you get the paint? I went to the Dupl-color web site and they didn't have my color listed (8U3).

Thanks everybody.
I have no qualms about drilling holes for the spoiler.
The dealer can supply the exact paint.
Its going to have to wait a little longer though.
I just found a large screw in my tire on the Matrix and that is forcing me to replace a couple of tires a bit ahead of schedule.

Rear spoiler imho is a must on this car it makes it boxier looking and I love weathertechs I purchase them for all my vehicles day 1. Saved me on my 2010 Sienna my son spilt a pop in our brand new van that was only 2 weeks old.

I had bought the Digifit mats from Weathertech last fall, and was a little dissapointed. The driver's side mat had a rather large gap around the gas door release lever housing, and the rear mat had a rather large flange at the rear that curls and gets caught by passengers' feet. A stiffener needs to be attached to keep it verticle.I sold them in the spring and got the regular mats, and now am satisfied.

Welcome to the Site! There is an RS7 rolling around here it is the only one I have ever seen in person. Def one of the best looking RS. I would still go with the spoiler, it just completes the look on these cars. Mine looked totally different without it.

That's ironic . . .
I had one in my tire on Tuesday. That night, I was going to Greenville, SC to see the Senna documentary film (was AWESOME! I HIGHLY recommend it), so I got it pulled immediately. It was in there sideways and didn't puncture through either.

(I live .5 miles from work, so such a thing can wait . . . if needed.)

Welcome, RS 7.0 brother. I've had mine for almost two years and the only difficulty I have is driving one of the sexiest compacts on the road. I stepped down from a 4Runner and never looked back. The RS 7.0 is my second xB and will be my last because it's not going anywhere but with me. Be warned: When we travel, everyone stops to talk about the car, especially the color. Most people don't understand blue iridescent with purple pearl. We have lots of fun and it is rated as one of the most comfortable road trip cars as well as one of the safest compacts. It's a winner in all the categories!

congrats on your new ride! you are the second person who told me they got a great deal on a RS 7 that had been in stock a long time...something Scion supposedly doesnt do :/
Thanks. They didn't necessarily drop the price of the XB but they were more generous with my trade-in, and to be fair, despite the transmission issues and high mileage, it was in very good shape and loaded.

Despite not being a frequent poster, I have been a frequent lurker here and I must say that this forum is about the most helpful, positive, and civilized that I've read. With that, I must say goodbye. I bought the Xb for my wife 1.5 years ago and we loved it, but ultimately she found that the high shoulders and mirrors impaired visibility (shes tiny), she was scraping the **** out of the bodykit, and could not stop comparing the fuel economy to my Matrix. None of that really bothered me so... whatever, but its her car. On Friday we traded it for a Prius, which checked all of those boxes for her (except no manual of course). We'll miss the Purple Toaster. It was one of the most charming and funky cars we've ever owned, evoking smiles of approval or laughing mockery everywere we went, and was impossible to lose in a parking lot.

Hate to see you go!

Mine gets lost in SUV-land around here . . . still tiny compared to Suburbans, Tahoes, Excretions, and the like (even Explorers and the Thai-built Chevy things).
