new tail light question

I was wondering if the new scion xB body style will allow for the tail lights with the backup lights and rear bumber to be switched to the 08 body style without changing the rear hatch like on the Rumion from Japan? Any help on this would be great.

Re: new tail light question

. why has 58 people look this thread and not a single person had an idea of how it's going to work? :(
Re: new tail light question

Perhaps no one here has tried it yet. The tailight shape looks about the same, but it does for the Rumion too.

The rear hatch should be no problem in any case, it's the bumper plastic that possibly could be.
Re: new tail light question

I hear the wiring for it could be tricky, and I think you would need to somehow add reflectors to the rear. I don't think the '11 tail lights have reflectors in them like the '08 does because they're in the bumper. I don't know for sure though wait 'till someone else chimes in.
Re: new tail light question

Rereading your original question, if you're asking about switching both the tailights and bumper, then that most likely should work. As Parkers09xB pointed out, the wiring will have to be adapted.

Could it be that 58 of us have upgraded tail lights...and like the off set backup light? ;)

You could be the first and let the rest of us know how it goes.
Re: new tail light question

I would be curious to see what it's like, but I don't plan on doing it. I'm still happy with my super extra bright red ones lol.
Re: new tail light question

I'm sure some 2011 stock tail lights will be showing up on ebay. Someone will try them on an xB2 and will let the rest of us know.

Yep. While I still have stock tail lights, one of the reasons I chose the 2010 over the 2011 is I like the quirkiness of the single backup light. ;)
Thinking out of the box

After reading all the talk about tail lights,I was thinking for those of us that would like more light when backing up. A lot of members are interested in LEDs. Inside or out they are impressive. What about putting them on the lenses of the tails you know the ones that are the size of the dome light replacements and wiring them to the b/u lite, attaching them with 3M tape just under the center of the lens. That way no major mods would be needed and they seem to be bright enought. Anyone have a thought? Just a suggestion.
One way to add reflectors is to put reflective tape on the bumper cover.Scotch makes what they call Scotch Cal.The covers on the '11 might be a hint as to where to put them.On the wiring issue, one would have separate all the light functions,i.e.brake,turn,tail,and the b/u circuit.you would likely have to go back to the main distr. point under the dash to split all the functions. In effect, a whole new harness would have to be made,or buy the '11 harness which is going to many $'s.
I dont like the single light. i am paranoid that one day someone is gonna hit me because of it.

O.K. visit my post of 11-18-2010...."ANOTHER BACKUP LIGHT SUGGESTION"...for pictures of my LED installation....no one will miss my backup lights when I'm in reverse....beats being "paranoid"!
