More rubber on the road will result in lower mpgs. You're right about that. Same problem with a taller tire, or larger diameter rims. From what I hear on the boards, it doesn't take much divertion from 'stock' size to impact your mpgs. If ride is more important that mileage, then the larger tires are the way to go.
New tires
I've noticed that there is a lot of talk about new wheels(17'sto 20's),but not about new tires that are the same dia.only wider. On past cars, I found the ride a little smoother on tires that are 1 to 2 times over the OE width. Any thoughts?
