And just now realized how many after market parts are well worth the money as opposed to dealer installs but never the less I've already bought it. I had the trd lowering springs, sway bar and cross strut put on. Was this a complete waste of money? Thanks in advance guys

Those are all good parts. I love my TRD sway bar. I had no qualms about installing it myself though and saved money that way. Installation is where you really pay. I plan to get the TRD strut brace eventually too (very few aftermarket ones to choose from). As for TRD springs, it depends on what your goals are. From reading here and other places, the TRD's are very good for improving performance. If you just want to be lower then aftermarket is better. (Personally, I still have my stock springs.)

I wouldn't say you wasted your money at all. You could have saved some if you installed the parts yourself, but if you don't have the means/desire to do so then don't sweat it!

Just relax and enjoy your new xB!

Those are good, quality parts and install isn't super easy unless your mechanically inclined. Plus, those HAVE to be right . . .
As such, I'd say those are the best TRD to have them install.
Those would only be a "waste" if either:
A) the dealer charges WAY too much for the part and install
or
B) You plan to take those parts off and get others in place of them.

I have and installed the TRD springs and strut bar on my own B. I've got the Hotchkis sways, which are similar to the TRD one, only more "agressive" and being both a front and rear set while the TRD one is just the rear (designed to match and balance the stock front bar).

Well thats really good to hear at least, I was over here ready to start kicking myself in jumping to those decisions quickly. Luckily enough the dealer is installing them no charge other than cost of parts. Eventually I'll look into getting more done to it but going to have to start driving it first in order to figure out what I want. I just went for those to start hoping it'll help it drive a lot less boxy like ha ha thanks bro

Now . . . about the name . . .
When you aren't a newbie anymore, will that name still be appropriate?

Well considering how far behind I am in this scene I have a feeling the name will be appropriate for a fair amount of time. And if my track record on other cars holds true on this one then I'll be making plenty of "I think I can do it" mistakes and coming to you guys trying to figure out what I broke sounding like a newbie...so for now it'll sufice ha ha

As already pointed out, the parts you selected are good. Given the Scion pricing structure, there is no installation fee associated with either Scion or TRD branded parts, which is why you saw no labor charges. The advantage to the approach you took is the cost of those accessories is bundled into the financed cost of the vehicle, many do that intentionally :)! Enjoy your new car :)!

First of all, that is what this forum is all about. People getting together to help each other out on their xB's. If you look at the list of things that were done to my box, the only things that I didn't do were the eye lids and tinting of the front door windows. Everything else, I did myself starting in June of this year and I'm still not finished (rear spoiler) but will start again in the spring of next year.

welcome to the site man.

you'll make plenty of bad choices with spending money on the B, but you'll learn from them. Ive prob spent at least 2K on the box that Im like, eh I could have done something better, and just started over, but this is over almost 3 years now.

still can't wait till I have the money to do bags!

Cool thanks guys makes me feel better about it all more lol. I'm still awaiting the call for me to go pick it up. Any suggestions as to where to start looking for parts for a '12? I didn't get the spoiler added and now I'm thinkin I want to do that myself, and almost everything else I can do too

that is a good, informative thread^

one of my very first mods was a short ram intake, made the engine sound mean. No real power gain, but the noise is awesome and it's only about 200 bucks I think, plus xmas is right around the corner!

There is also a lot of low to no dollar mods you can do like paint your hub caps, paint your side view mirror covers, vinyl is pretty cheap if you do it yourself, just get creative with it.

Welcome to my favorite Scion site and to the new addiction! There are a lot of helpful people on this site and large amounts of DIY information. I think we all have benifited from the knowledge of one another here at some point. Just ask and someone here will be able to assist.
